Ha, I suggested this up thread, mainly as a wind up but it kind of makes sense with Nibali going and the transformation of Basso to domestique status.

Wow. So his aggressive racing was because Liquigas didnt want him and he was trying to get a contract. Shame he is going there, although maybe he is ahppy with it.

Duggan. You could see it coming when the "Liquigas sent no-one to help me at the US nationals" story came out.

I'm sure I read somewhere on here that Liquigas were pulling the cycling sponsorship.

Or did I make this up?

No you didn't make it up. Leaky are leaving but Cannondale are continuing - so I read somewhere.

Kiryienka has joined Sky (as predicted by those who watched the first hour of the Olympic RR)

3 year deal too. Does that mean the other Austrian guy is also sky bound?

Sob! One of my favourite riders. Thought he was Saxo bound. O well should have guessed when he rode in the front of the RR.

Kiryienka is the Zabriskie off the TT bike. Best style in the whole peloton by a mile - bar Alberto, obviously.

Pozzovivo at Ag2R excites me indeed.

    Pozza to AG2R

Cos thats what Ag2R were really missing - another climber. He might help them address their shortage of wins but they are still in the crapper, GC-wise.

Realistically wouldn't they be better off with a guy that could win a big mountain stage or two in the Tour rather than have a guy who can finish tenth overall? Would get them more coverage certainly, would it get them more or less WT points?

If his cheques are getting signed by a French sponsor he might not have the choice. Or are you referring to an issue of a clinical nature?

Not especially. I just can't see him being any good outside of Italy.

    Like a poor man's Simoni.

He picks up quite a few points doing the Italian races though. Would AG2R be interested in those, or are they not highly ranked enough to count?

Simoni rode for predominantly Italian teams so peaking for the Giro made sense.

Personally i don't see why he couldn't do well at the Tour. Good roads, not too many made descents. Let him lose thirty minutes in the first week of the Tour then let him loose in breakaways in the mountains, I can see him outclimbing most of the usual breakaway merchants.

Saxo with no classic's plan then. I like the way Garmin just stay one level, one out one in. Think flecha is passed it
