Was going to say the same, Sky's team dynamic in no way suits Moreno Moser.

Why is an attacking rider like JTL going there then? ;)

To be honest I think its a waste for him to go to Sky, he will get zero chance to ride for himself. However he does get a bigger pay check and to ride better races, if he hasn't had any better offers he's obviously not going to turn it down, but I don't really see him fitting in there.

If he goes to Sky, he ll be Froome-Dog's climbing domestique - Bet Michelle would luurrrrve that ;).

I think Dead Calm has a good point about Garmin actually. VDV is not realistically going to do anything again, Not sure the stars will align in Hejedal's direction for a while, they need someone to get them stage wins now Farrar has given up even getting his token nothing races, could be good!

I think JV still thinks he ll come good, or that he still has years left on his contract and they can't get shot of him....

He's still a bit of a darling of the US press/fans mind...

    Harsh.

Difficult to be anything else when you are constantly involved in crashes. If there's anything that can take the guts from a rider - and especially a sprinter - it's crashing. Can't blame Tyler's lack of belief in himself in the last year or so. WW also in mind, obviously.

Fail: his results have always been spectacularly average and trying to blame the whole WW thing for some sort of mental weakness is pretty poor, if he felt like that he should retire, not keep taking the dosh and pretending that he's something he isn't (a sprinter)!

    :?
He's won the Vattenfall classics twice and the Scheldeprijs. Perhaps not as much as his reputation, but not 'always spectacularly average'. Unless you only watch the TdF

He won a stage in the 2011 Tour.

Won a few in the Giro in the past too.

He needs to lay off the classics and work on his speed - unless he's worked out he's lost his speed and is trying to make the transition.

He's had 1 bad year. He might come good with a win at the Vuelta, but if not this will be the first time since 2008 that he'll finish the season with an individual grand tour stage win. OK, he's no Mark Cavendish, but other cyclists get employed for doing far worse than him.

Riders can have a few years of bad luck / bad form / illness / whatever / and still come back and get a big result. Look at Boonen a couple of years ago when his head was all over the place, or Hushovd this year.

Besides, even if Farrar isn't getting the results, that doesn't mean he can't be a good team player. Lots of good sprinters over the years have morphed into great roadmen domestiques once their speed evaporates. O'Grady, anyone?

We'll agree to disagree. His palmares is mediocre for a specialist sprinter and, as has been suggested, you wonder whether the whole "Transitions" thing and his face being all over the US of A is more of a driving force than his results.

Of course he is a sprinter and of course he is fast enough. I've never said he was the best and has the best palmares, but he has gone from winning and sprinting for top-5's to not even being able to get a top-15 even if his life depended on it. His a top top sympathic guy. Also a very emotional guy. Clearly something has gone wrong. His 'attack' on Veelers showed what kind of state he was/are in. That's nothing like him.

Needs new motivation and maybe a new team. I'd like to see him replace the useless Haedo's.

Everyone in the Peloton works hard. He's a sprinter. He's supposed to win stages. One TdF stage and a handful of wins in chippers don't impress me much.

He doesn't need a new Team, he needs a new job. He's so second tier it's pathetic. If I were a GS domestique, I'd feel royally p*ssed off setting him up, only to have him fail (yet again) on every flat stage.

Have a look at CQ Ranking and head 2 head him against other sprinters. Then you'll understand why a team would keep him - He's incredibly solid. Dire year this year though.

  • And I believe his bike was seen at a SKY training camp earlier this year wasn't it?

Was he wearing an invisibility cloak at the time?

Letting Oss go Liquigas? Fail. He'll win Roubaix one day.

That's a loss, he's really come into some form this year. Maybe making space for JTL who I guess would be looking at similar races (along with Uran and Henao)?

Could he be Rabo's new GT contender or will he just end up being a mountain domestique (along with pretty much every other Rabo rider!)?

Certainly wouldn't be a move I'd have made, I can only assume Sky didn't offer a new contract or he realised he wasn't going to get many opportunities.

Oss to BMC is bad news. One of my fav up and coming riders! I cant see him getting much chance to do much at BMC :(
