If Cav does leave Sky and therefore frees up a lot of salary then I can see Canc going there. I think it would be good for G and Stannard as well in helping them develop of Classics riders riding in support of Canc for a few years. I can't see Canc going to the same team as Gilbert though.

He was considering it before he went to Leopard. Swiss team, sometimes trains with Evans...Depends what he wants to do next I suppose.

Junior Murdoch is a fan, so that'll help. Whether his ex-coach Cecchini would cause a problem is another story.

Cancellara to Sky makes a lot of sense.

He can be the main man in the cobbled classics (at least while Thomas and Stannard learn their stuff) and would be a great addition to their Tour squad. Particularly if there is going to be a TTT in the Tour next year, a TTT team based around Cancellara/Wiggins/Froome/Rogers/Porte/Thomas/EBH would be quite something.

Don't think his shadiness will put people off?

I can't see it myself either.

Did we ever find out who DB was talking about when he stopped negotiations when he saw the passport data?

Also If Rogers is looking to target one week races and doing support at TDF he's better off at Sky than Greenedge surely? I suppose it depends on what level or week long races he's going for. Porte had his chance in portugal. Maybe Rogers will be the pick for ToB?

Not really. Sky have a number of guys who can target 1 week races. How many does Greenedge have? He'll have the pick of the races at Greenegde.

But would he have the support? I've got to admit, I can't remember who greenedge have got but there's only really Albasini who sticks in my mind as a decent domestique and is Rogers much better? How long is Albasini's contract? Swapsies!

Quite interestingly, Jens Voigt has offers from Sky, Saxo, and Radioshack.

Voight - Sky = The end of the Credibility once and for all? Or is Jens considered to be squeaky clean?

Maybe he doesn't need drugs because his HcT is already 204 ;)

Wherever Jens goes I reckon he ll need a guarantee of riding the Tour - Not sure he'd carry on for anything else really.....

Jens is f*cking awesome - he's obviously ridden through a non-clean period, but I think he's clean. I'd love to see him at SKY, he'd do a really good job for them.

I'm as much a Jens fan as anyone but I really don't see what point there would be in Sky hiring him (unless Bernie goes with Cav and Jens is prepared to be the bunch engine).

He is still riding great, and it could also be with a view to a post-racing career.

Getting good quality riders on one-year contracts probably isn't easy.

That vintage DB would lead me to think they weren't negotiating with anyone and they were trying to pull off some kind of "we're tough on doping" thing.

    It was Kreuziger, apparently.

Whether that's true, or whether that's just the name that's become associated with it, I don't know.

It wasn't Kreuziger. Whoever it was is described as 'a top one day rider' in Richard Moore's book and was at Milan-San Remo in 2009. Neither of those applies to Kreuziger.

(I've always guessed that it was Pozzato)

And now I can't find head nor tail of the Kreuziger link. My apologies!

Regarding Pozzato, didn't his agent say Sky had offered him a contract for next year? That came just before the whole Ferrari thing.

Had a quick look at the start list. I thought it would be Chinny to be honest.

Agents say lots of things - if they say their client is interesting a certain team, it's almost always to get a better deal at different one.

But I thought Richard Moore said it was a "top one day rider"?

    Who knows.

If Sky hired Jens, I would think they truly didn't care who they hired anymore. The only reason you'd hire him is the fans like him and his antics so it puts a human side the cold roboticness of Sky I suppose.

This thread (helped by me admittedly) is who's out of contract that you could see at Sky.
Do they really need anyone at the moment? If Cav goes, they could do with a decent sprinter now Henderson's gone, but other than that, they're looking pretty solid for what they want.

I wan't to see if/where the Schlecks go, and who's lining up for a positive test by signing for Astana.

  • GreenEDGE you would think are going to be pretty active this transfer season just a matter of how much Orica's contribution has made to there budget, could they afford someone like Cancellara?

A little harsh - Jens defines 'Super Domestique'. I think he'd do a great job for them, and let's be honest he has a year or 2 left riding at that level at the very most. I appreciate the second sentence, and think you're right, but I suppose you could add to that if SKY are going to be a pure GC team from now on, it'll give them more firepower in the GTs. Each leader can be assured of mostly fresh diesels to help get them to the podium.

Why would they want him? They are a sprint team and should focus on stage wins and developing the best possible train.

Matt White needs to get a grip of Renshaw and make it clear that he isn't a sprinter. He can get a job at Green Edge leading Goss out.

Frank will be spending next season on his sofa (unless the Luxembourg authorities sweep the positive test under the rug).
