No, Wiggins has previous of promising to work for Farrar. Don't confuse him with a sprinter.

    Fair point!

Only Eisel, EBH, Wiggins will be in Cav's train, Rogers and Knees will have to do much work ensuring it is a sprint and Froome and Porte just don't have the experience and handling to do it so would be more of a liability.

16-man break with over 2 minutes: EBH (Sky) Popovych (RNT), Arashiro (EUC), Millar (GRS), Fouchard (COF), Hansen (LTB), Vanendert (LTB), Boeckmans (VCD), Paolini (KAT), Roy (FDJ), Costa (MOV), Kroon (STB), Nuyens (STB), Vinokourov (AST), Albasini (OGE) and Gretsch (ARG).

Looking at the break I'd be very surprised if they don't stay away. EBH for the win, if he hasn't knackered himself completely working for Wiggins.

I'd expect all the sprinters teams that are left will want to ensure a bunch sprint on the Champ - so Lotto, Green Edge & Garmin will all work to close any mad escapees, and so to might Leakygas.

    Yeah but Liquigas might

Nabali pretty OK in 3rd, Sagan already has Green - why risk using energy before the TT? I vote they won't

Nibali aside, why would they care about the TT?

    No BMC in the break?

Yesterday they had a competition, you had to guess the winner of todays stage and the highest placed BMC rider to win some goodies.

i went for Winner: Albasini (looking possible)
BMC: Cummings - Was hoping he'd get in the break, now he's going to have to sprint for the line for me to win a prize

Who's going to chase this break given Green Edge and Lotto have a man in there?

I'd love to see Arashiro win. I'm not sure he's ever won a race outside Japan.

A dog has caused a crash in the peloton

There has been an accident in the peloton that's been caused by a dog rushing on to the road. Gilbert (BMC) is one of the riders involved and he's just made a point of walking over to the owner of the dog to give them a piece of his mind...

Agreed. I've gained a huge amount of respect for him this tour.

Just watched the post crash "dust up" on France tv.
Gilbert went out of his way to get into it with the owner
of the big black dog, only to find out it was a 5 year old girl!
Still, that didn't stop our Fearless Phil. He had to be restrained,
while the terrified kid hung onto her mother's legs.

(OK, I've used a bit of poetic licence with the ownership, but
    the rest is true.)

Those in orange jerseys ganging up to chase down the break!
  • fair play to Gilbert. Dogs have no place being off a leash near a bike race

    The joke wasn't long arriving:
    K9pd

Worse off than Phil: Denis Menchov and particularly Jani Brajkovic, who ended up down a banking.

Agree about dogs roadside, but maybe that's down to the fact that the publicity caravan attracts lots of families
    and their accompanying pets etc.

They should have either left the dog at home or put it in the car. It isn't difficult. Complete negligence to let an animal loose like that.
