Apart from Flander my classics season has been atrocious....going to have to find my climbing legs in a hurry for the Ardennes.

I shot myself in the foot by picking Nibali to win Pais Vasco without checking the startlist close to race day 1...saw Nibs name picked by others on the ptp thread and assumed it certain :|

    After M-SR I was 52nd.

After the Vlaamse wielerweek (Flemish cycling week) I'm 4th.

    Go figure.

    You've had a jammy week?

The law of averages has come into force?

Your blind love of Mr Boonen has finally paid off?

Gotta be one of the three. My money is on door no.3

Rick's good form continues with a top score of 75 in the Basque Country, but it's not enough to put him top of the overall standings. Art Vandelay's better performances in Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico give him the slight edge as we head into Paris-Roubaix. Will AV still be #1 this time tomorrow?

I've peaked too early. I reckon I might 'deliberately' drop a few places to avoid having to do all the running at this early stage. My nemesis, the Tour of Poland, is out this year - good news.

On to make my PTP Paris-Roubaix pick. Imanol Erviti Ollo obviously.

Did a small bit of paying around with the PTP scores so far this year.

For the one-day races, iainf72 leads with TakeTheHighroad second and Rick Chasey third.

For the Northern European "cobbled" classics (E3, G-W, RVV, Scheldeprijs and Paris Roubaix), Rick leads, having a hit rate of 5/5, with Art Vandelay second and Dave_1 third.

For the Ardennes classics so far (AGR, FW), there is a four-way tie - iainf72, Snorebens, TakeTheHighRoad and me, but no-one has full points

For the three stage races so far ( Paris Nice, Tirreno Adriatico and Pais Vasco), Art Vandalay leads from LeicesterLad and tforonda

In the "King of the Chippers" (just G-W and Scheldeprijs so far) there is a ten-way tie for first place on full points but following closely behind is the Supreme Arbiter of Chippiness, iainf!

Make of that what you will.

Maybe Nico Roche was a little hard on myself, perhaps i'm just a 'Stage Race Specialist' like Contador - except i'm not cheating, honest.

Hardly any movement after LBL. stanislav moves into the top 20, that's about it. The only player in the top 10 to score anything was slimreaper, who netted a whopping 2 points.

Big block of stage-racing coming up. Even if they all pick the same GC guy, stages will make a difference.

I've finally started moving up. My tactic this year was to build up slowly and lull everyone into a false sense of security before destroying everybody in the grand tours....watch out!
