Pro Tour Pundit 2012
Consider this the official thread for Pro Tour Pundit 2012, the 7th edition of Bikeradar's season-long prediction game.
How to Play
Playing along with PTP is extremely simple - you don't have to sign up or join anything other than the Bikeradar forums. If you're already a member here, that means you're already eligible to play.
A few days before each of the chosen races, a PTP thread will be started in the Pro Race forum. That thread will contain a selection of useful links - start lists, race maps, past winners and so on. All you have to do is consider who you think is likely to win and post their name in that thread. It's that simple. If the race in question is a stage-race, you also get to predict the daily stage winners.
As you play, your scores will be added up and the overall season rankings will be updated in this thread.
2012 Calendar
Some slight changes this year. The Tour of Poland is out, because it clashes with the Tour de France, and there's only ever going to be one winner there. The Olympics are in, men and women, RR and ITT. Also, the season ends with Paris-Tours rather than Lombardy.
Points System
Same as previous years.
Doping
Points are finalised once the race organisations publishes their results. No adjustments will be made if it later emerges that a rider has failed a drugs test or if a rider has wins retrospectively removed from his palmares.
Prediction Cut-off
For most races, the generally accepted rule is that selections should be in before noon on the day of the race (exceptions made for split-stages, evening prologues etc). No GC selections will be accepted once a stage-race has begun.
Past Winners
Six editions in, no repeat winner. Will that change this year?
That's all, have a lucky year and enjoy the cycling!

Looking forward to another season of PTP but can I ask a question please.
If you know you will be away (on holiday) several days before a PTP thread is opened without guaranteed wifi, is there a best way of posting your choices before going away. ie here, by PM or by opening the PTP thread early?
Thanks0 -

You and me both. Just cos I pick by feel and don't use these new fangled scientific methods. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -
Second year in a row, no-one gets the winner in the season opener.

This was the race where I lost my lead quite badly last year after EBH dropped out (2nd year running he's dropped out I think). Seems to be going a little better this year...0

Evidently, it's the opposite this year. You go into the lead, booting mididoctors off the number 1 spot. Still, very early days yet...
