I've had both keyhole surgery and a full hamstring graft on my left knee due to detaching my ACL twice, but in two separate operation a couple of years apart. The keyhole one sucked more, had to wear a cast for about 4 weeks after the operation, but with the hamstring graft I was up doing physio pretty much the same day I had the op, which I feel was better really. Them brace things are bloody annoying though, but much much better than a cast!
Hope everything goes to plan, you certainly should be back on the bike at some point!0 -
Oh yes, forgot to mention, the surgeon says depending on the physio, should be talking around 6-9 months after surgery to get back on the MTB.
IOM E2E is sep next year, so if I can, I want to get back into it in time to complete that in a reasonable time.0 -

This was on sale in my local Tescos store at a cracking £20 this evening. Figured It'd be a handy tool for a bit of gentle rehab.
The way I see it is that it was so cheap, if it falls apart in 6 weeks time, I've had my moneys worth out of it.
First impressions are not fantastic. seatpost feels flimsy, saddle is wide enough for 3 people, magnetic resistance does not work. Heartrate monitor is wildly inaccurate. Still, no escaping from the fact it was £20, so I don't much care.

Good to hear you have a goal....I did something similar years ago.....I was trying to get into a burds knickers a few years back at work so did "some work for charity mate" and did a skydive...it worked a treat and on that saturday my fingers smelt like John Wests finest catch...
Might take a look at that bike myself, if the saddle is wide enough for 3 people it may fit the missus.0 -
They're £85 on the Tescos site. I'd not touch it with a bargepole at that price if I'm honest.0

Niiiiiiiiiiice!!
Are we getting any 'mid-op' pictures, or was the surgeon a bit to webster to play ball?
Also, have you checked they didn't take a kidney whilst you were under? You are in Liverpool after all...It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

They went to wheel me out of theatre but the bed had been put up on bricks.
I did get some mid-op pics, taken on the latroscope. But tbh, it's impossible to tell what they are pictures of.

First one is the purple eyed alien living inside your brain
Second one is an upskirt shot of the nurse attending
Third is a poo on a bed sheet
That's my guessesI'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

Don't care how much lipstick you put round that, I'm still not sticking my obvious into it!How would I write my own epitaph? With a crayon - I'm not allowed anything I can sharpen to a sustainable point.

Revival of a dead thread to say.........
Look what I've done today.....
Worst thing is, I didn't even have the GoPro recording at the time, so it's all for nothing.0 -
Ouch dude! That looks pretty swollen! Are you gonna man up like me and carry on for the rest of the weekend, that's the questionIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

I rode home, wtf more do you want?
Sat on the sofa now with an ice pack on it. If it's not gone down by tomorrow I may have a trip up to the hossy to get it checked out.0 -
Pah, I rode back to the tent, then went back up the hill 8)
What did you do to get it looking like that anyway? Was it a big fall, or did you accidentally inflate it instead of the tyre?It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Well, good news is, the bones are in tact still, and all my screws and plates are where they should be. And they drained the swelling (fnarr).
The not so good news is that I've possibly torn my ACL in a different place so that's going to need looking at. Got to go back on Friday, then they'll decide if I need another MRI.
It may be time to face the fact I'm rubbish at bikes and stuff. Wonder if maybe I should see how bad I can hurt myself on a road bike instead?0 -
