Doubled pre-ride caffeine intake this morning, got three PRs on a route that I've ridden for years. Up to 9th in SCR league on Battersea Bridge to Blackfriars Ramp which pushes okgo out of the top ten. Just saying.

I was told I'd got a PR the other day, clicked on the segment and I'm a disappointing 674th out of 1154. Then I realised I hadn't even ridden that road, it picked up the road outside Bushy Park when I was riding the gravel track inside the park.
  • Go MTBing and you get so many PR's since a lot of the segments are short twisty under trees...

Got 27 achivements yesturday on a loop mostly since the surrey hills where fairly quiet and not too muddy.

I had some 9 days off the bike supporting someone to go on holiday eating too much etc. So fat and slow! probably explains the PR's on the downhill though...

Yeah - that article was pretty good bluefinch, cheers.

I had a pretty decent quick ride last night. I was allowed out to play for an hour, so went up to the top of Biggin Hill and back. Felt like I was battling a headwind on the way up and strong crosswinds on the way down. Still felt good though.

  • Woo, picked up a 9th overall for a segment from the curve of embankment north up to chez bu :D Kudos to the cheeky hybrider who thought he might make a quick scalp when I had a mis clip in and faffed - cheeky monkey put the hammer down but to no avail.

Not convinced the changes to Strava have really added anything. Just makes it harder to analyse segments. :(

Well this is truly rubbish. Before I had all my stuff on one screen. Heart rate zones, power curve, segments, ride analytics. Now I have to click multiple clicks.

I'm lazy - I want it all there in one place.

JZed, do you use http://www.veloviewer.com? has lots of info all on the one screen, and takes data from Strava

I do but it tends to be very slow, and I just want to look at my individual ride, and be able to see my heart rate, power analytics, segments etc all on one screen. Strava used to do this all in the same page. Now I have to click through to multiple other pages.

I don't really segment chase anymore so may just find something else to use. Has anyone used this http://www.cyclinganalytics.com/
  • How do you report a flawed reading? I have KOM on a segment that says I was going way faster than I possibly could. Problem is, the guy in second place has to have a false reading too.

Best one I know of locally has the top few riders all exceeding 1000mph with KOM being something like 2500mph.

I did come across a serious climb on segment explorer recently that had the top spot climbing around 50000 feet in 16 miles at an average speed of over 16mph. Since the average gradient was something over 20% I was seriously impressed buy decided I wasn't quite up to the challenge.

Locally (very locally, like about 3-400 metres from my house there is a segment where the KOM is held with an average speed of 156mph.

Strava is great on the whole, but it does have a few detail anomalies and issues at times. Over long distances and times it is likely to be pretty reasonable but for short distances and times then satellite locks and recording could cause significant variation.
  • I ride a fair bit around town and MTB so both have in abundance short segments with less than clear lines to the satellites, so get fair number of improbable speeds.

Don't get me wrong i like strava as calender of where I've been etc.
  • Oh for Pete's sake. Put in a decent effort this morning on the OKR Lidl sprint. Upon uploading tonight, it turns out I'm the new KOM, with an average speed for the segment of 32.9 mph - and a max speed for the segment of 29.8 mph. Fcuking Strava :x

The annoying thing is, I'd have been quite happy with the high leaderboard spot a more realistic average would have given me. Instead, I'm stuck there in the KOM spot, looking a fraud, with little recourse apart from cropping the ride.

Well I'm not doing it - yah boo sucks. It ain't my fault Strava is rubbish.

I'm PRing most days at the moment so I quite like Strava right now.

I have a KOM over a bridge, I got it by drafting a bus, I've lost it twice to people who's max speed for that ride exceeded 80mph and their routes included motorway. Strava deleted both rides after I flagged them. The same can be done for bad data, so Gallywomack, if the previous KOM notices and checks your data you might lose it.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
  • Well I'd hope that nobody would be sad enough to report a KOM on a segment that's barely a quarter of a mile, just because of a couple of seconds worth of screwy data. It's not like it's claiming I did it at 50mph.
  • I've had a few months off due to baby.

Officially, this new strava is a complete pain in the arse. Is there any way to get the old layout back? I just want to see heart rate, speed, elev on 1 graph like before, on a normal sized screen.

Buried myself earlier. Segment heart rate graph shows a line skipping up and down round the dotted average line, which is marked as 192 bpm. My max i've ever, ever recorded is 192bpm - average my arse.

Copy the link to the segment, then go to the support section and raise a ticket.

STRAVA.COM IS UNDERGOING SCHEDULED SITE MAINTENANCE.

We're making some updates and will be up and running soon. These types of updates typically take 15-45 minutes. Thanks for your patience!

90 minutes later still the same :(

Why are people blaming Strava for defects in the GPS data they upload from their choice of device?

Strava seem to be copying Garmin in totally screwing up their site. Strava used to be fine to view on an iPad and now it's hopeless. Not only that but it often crashes the browser. Strava tried to tell me that the iPad isn't a "compatible device". I pointed out that I wasn't trying to use the iPad to upload data (though I ought to be able to manually input data) but just to view the site. It's schoolboy site coding not to have tested it on common browsers and devices - the iPad is hardly a niche device these days. Garmin's site just doesn't work properly anymore.

Strava site seems dodgy to me at the moment. When I try to filter by day it fails - looks like it is using some bizarre url - additional filters I've not selected - club, weight, etc. Perhaps test code?

So it's displaying pages correctly? I assume you are using the site rather than the app? If I add, say, a comment, I have to put the iPad in landscape else there's no way to hit the submit button. Strava are aware of the issues and are working to fix them.

GPS working fine with Google maps, but Strava can't seem to locate. Did the same thing this morning.

I can't see the bug here either on safari/ipad/IOS7.1 it works fine.
