    Well put.

After about 20 mins, Ireland had put in 20-odd tackles, Wales about 50.

    Agreed on the last three.

I've no idea about the first; I'm in a right state.

Yeah, well, that's not gone awfully well. Probably good that I didn't buy a euromillions ticket after all.

Still. Maybe Fra v NZ in the final, in which case break out those All Black chokers lads!

Hey Greg66 - can you please put a prediction in for France getting into the semis next week

Phew - what a game, we were all being very quiet and managing to whisper our shouts for joy - then my cousin burnt some toast and set the smoke alarm off at about 6:15, he also forgot to switch his alarm off for 7am and then 7:30am, to be fair his gf was fairly ok about it. His sister wasn't so forgiving and I pity her bloke who was watching with us, he's in the doghouse.

I was surprised with the England match, the French pulled their socks up but I think we all knew that they would either blow hot or cold.

Sorry Greg66 - I missed this post, my eyes are stinging from getting up so early. Thanks for the prediction

    France vs England

Has to be England If the Weather is bad with both Flood and Wilkinson on the pitch England would win a kicking game if weather is good the back four will tear France to shreds. I'd expect Flood and Wilkinson to swap 10 and 12 roles throughout the game creating space in the French defence. looking forward to this, really hope the French turn up so it's a good game. If the French turn up England by 7, if not England by at least 14.

I thought the points-dfference would be a lot closer. I do feel for the Irish, especially since they beat the Aussies.

    Really?

I thought it would be a lot closer too, I wasn't confident that we would do it to be honest, I'm glad the boys proved me wrong.

I may even go to church tomorrow.

QI fact: the nations in this year's SFs are the same as those in 1987.

    As you were.
    FCN 2-4.

  • Another QI fact: every winner of the RWC has also won all their pool games on the way.

Only NZ of the present last four can claim that.

After my epicly good predictions this weekend -<cough> I'm going with an upset next weekend: Aus will put NZ out.

That should ensure NZ hoist the trophy.

  • An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a pub..... The Welshman was still in New Zealand

p.s. I am English but I can appreciate humour
  • France-like, the real Australia will turn up next week to beat NZ (the AB's have already posted all their injury excuses - McCaw, Carter, Slade, Muliaina). This is always a tasty fixture, and the Aussies know they got let off this week.

Wales to hump France in the other SF - no real motivation on the part of France, at least not in the way there is when they play "Les Rosbif" - and Wales looked pretty sharp against Ireland. If Lievremont starts with Parra at 10 again, Roberts and North will eat him for breakfast, and Rougerie can be a bit fragile at times in defence. Wales have the pace and the defensive abilities out wide to contain the French back three, and their pack is the equal of any at the RWC.

So my prediction is an Australia vs. Wales Final

Maybe, just maybe the Welsh could be World Champions in two weeks time.......

The odds might be shortening, but I might just have a flutter.

That ruined my Saturday morning that did. France were good, but we were the masters of our own destruction. The rugby team seem to be attempting to emulate the feats of the football team, including behaving like complete fcukwits off of the field. Anyone else fancy jumping off of a ferry?

    I don't bet but

Wales are marginal favourites at (10/11) to beat France who are at (15/13) to beat Wales. The draw at 20/1 looks worth a flutter.

Aus are 5/2 to beat NZ who are at (2/5) to beat Aus again the draw at 25/1 look worth a flutter.

    To Win RWC
    N/Z 4/6
    Aus 47/10
    Wal 6/1
    Fra 41/5

    Finalists
    NZ / Wal 13/8
    NZ / Fra 7/4
    Aus / Wal 11/2
    Aus / Fra 13/2

Brilliant results on the weekend! Okay, not so good if you're Irish, English, Argentinian or Sth African, but the 4 sides that got through are the best at running the ball and the most inclined to do so :)

This has been a great cup and is nicely unpredictable: Tonga's massive upset, France's comeback, Aussie sneaking through (thanks to the useless ref), Wales rampant, NZ's best player & backup invalided... it's all too close to call. The ABs were the only team which topped their group and made it to the semis, so even form doesn't count for much.

I think Wales are going to smash France in the semi-final.

Regarding England. A fairly mediocre team - losing in a QF is about right for them. The worst thing that happened to them was that freak win against Australia last autumn, it made everyone think they were quite good and that Johno was doing a decent job.

Is that worth a quid would be gutted if it came in an I didn't? Although this is exactly why I don't gamble.
