  • Think the Irish have earned a Guinness this evening though.

    Still haven't a clue what's happening.

But we seem to be winning

    Yeah, I'll take a pint

Pondering an early rise for the Wales match. Heart says "yes", the head/red wine says "NFW".

If Georgia had a better kicker, England would be knee-deep in it atm.

Wales dodged a bullet, this morning,
    England were unimpressive, tbh,
(but then, I am Welsh  )
If Wales was flattened out, it'd be bigger than England!

  • Thought England did a bit better, scoring a 6 trys and some good performances, but playing so much rugby in our own half, and giving away so many penalties means the final score flatters us. Against a better team with a decent kicker we would have struggled. Still, long way to go....

I agree prd007 - I was disappointed with Wales yesterday. Mrs Benno wasn't too pleased either, she reckons that I probably woke next door up in the early hours - I was trying to be quiet!

Getting out on the bike at 9am was a challenge.

Nah, the first few matches are supposed to be tough and awkward, sets them up for the later stages doesn't it. Remember Samoa - England in 2003? I nearly pooed myself.

What price a French victory against the ABs? That would leave it to England to knock the favourites out in the QFs (a strong Scottish performance notwithstanding).

At half time the ABs are well on top, so looking like France in the quarters for England.

Much better performance from England today I thought. If we keep on improving at this rate we might yet make the final.

Ya know, it wouldn't surprise me. They'd fancy themselves much more in the other side of the draw i.e. not the one with Aus and SA.

I wish Scotland would stop kicking it away. They kept it in hand to begin with, but now they keep going for garryowens and little grubber kicks. Very annoying.

And again from Jackson! Bloody hell. Nice charge down though.

You weren't rooting for Scotland against the Argies then? Not very happy about that, myself.

I was rooting for Scotland. Even more so because it was against the Argies. Hopefully, Georgia (IIRC) will beat Argentina by a good amount, and Scotland can progress on point difference (because I still want England to beat Scotland, of course, but I'd love to see Argentina get knocked out in the group stage).

not a chance of that happening, Georgia are playing Romania on Wednesday, both teams will be going all out for the win and will be knackered come the weekend

  • From an England standpoint, that delivered a perfect dose of false hope, pain and misery.

    For the Scots, obviously.

Moral Victory for the Scots, but Mel Gibson sending that guy's head back in a box was pretty low so, you know...all's fair.....

Well, yes. I still think we should squeeze past the French. At the moment, I don't fancy our chances against either Wales or Ireland in a semi.

FWIW, I think of those two, Ireland will be in the semi.

Yes Greg66 - the French are struggling, I'm not confident that Wales will beat Ireland and sadly, I think it will be an England v. Ireland face off.

If I were supporting England, I'd rather face Wales as we (the Welsh) seem to fall short in the big games although I think that the Welsh have done well on their fitness levels to maintain their game for the full 80mins.

I'm starting to get a bit nervous about the Fiji game - COME ON WALES!!!

I may get some grief from Mrs Benno again as it's an early wake up call, I mean kick off. :D

Assuming we beat Fiji, we're unlikely to get a better route to the final.
