Richmond . . . My place . . .
Bike shop at the end of the road for bits and pieces . . .
A Frankenbike drop in centre and outreach clinic . . The Mrs is a Dr as well so she can do CPR and stuff if it all goes kinetic.
Fantastic this plan is coming together nicely, it'll be after I get back from the rugby world cup in NZ, which is just before the last weekend September.... I'll bring beer.......
Been doing some research on respraying, looks like a pain the @rse to do. New decals looks a better route..... more google needed....--

ooohhhh . . . 30 quid though .. . .
That looks just like what I'm after to make my hybrid more jacket friendly. Did you get this in the end?0 -

30 notes is a lot for a set of bars . . . .
I'm concerned I'm just going to buy loads of unmatchable junk and with nothing fitting anything else . . . . .
I'mm going to start with a frame and work upwards from there . . .Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.
What would Thora Hurd do?0 -
Custom coloured decals are more than possible.
Silly Commuter Racer on the top tube maybe
Lots of ideas....
Now coloured mudguards.....--

Just imagine in lime green with orange finishing kit. Put a set of bull horns on and it'll be fairly aero (note I have no proof of this other than front end much lower than seat)

That maybe difficult... Axel / Drop out width will be wrong size but you can get 700c wheels with MTB hubs, bigger problem would be clearance for the wheels which may not fit....--

I could be in on this. I've bought a 21" mountain bike frame of Fleabay for £20 to build a bike for my son as he keeps bloody growing. Unpainted, unlaquered ali so it's got a lovely aluminium oxide finish. Just need to start getting other bits.
Has anyone seen Biker Build Off where inbred sceptics build dreadful choppers and then there is a vote on whose is best? Similar rules could apply. Time limit and must be functional as I recall. I may struggle with getting all the bits in time due to tight finances.
A build at Greg T's and another one at mine and meet at the Tide End Cottage for a test ride pint.0 -
I'm thinking about a track frame with a cyclocross fork so that I can run fixed and have the option to switch to front disk brake at some point in the future..."I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"
--Jens Voight0 -
If anyone is after a free frame and some bits, I have to make a bit of room...
Here's the frame with bits on.
it's 1994 (i Think) Marin Pine Mountain 17inch mtb, slightly too small for me at 5'10, but I managed to ride it for a few thousand miles over the years
But it will be a minimum of the frame, seatpost (though you might have to make up a new coke can shim), BB and stem, no wheels although I have an old front wheen which must be worth a bottle of ale or a £3 big bottle of Leff
It you expect the frame, seatpost, BB and stem you may get some extras, you might not....but it's free! (though feel free to bring beer)
It might have other bits that I can't be rsed to take off. May be some old spd pedals, if needed?
It comes in a fetching rust with metallic green and green paint splatters to be found after riding through a patch of wet green paint.
For collection from Stratford0 -
Fine, I wasn't expecting to go that quick!
Awwww I'm getting a bit teary eyed now thinking it will be going back to Richmond....at least it knows the way
You get the headset as well0 -
If anyone has a frame of any description, roughly 55cm road or an 18" mtb they could donate to the cause then I'm in! It will do my bike maintenance skills no end of good to have a project like this to be on with! I can pick up from Lincoln, Sheffield or naywhere in between!0

Its going to be a mess - i have some 700cc at home so if they dont fit then i'll just raid a few skips."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

KB i'll send you PM explaining why later.
It's looking like getting the frame off KB from Derbyshire is going to be tricky as picking it up on way back from Preston is not an option (blame the wife), a drive up there just to get the frame is going to cost a bit in petrol and doesn't seem worth it on it's own.
If anyone else is nearer and wants this frame let KB know. If anyone thinks they will find themselves driving down the M1 from j24 to London in the near future and wouldn't mind picking the frame up even better.
Alternatively does any one have a frame around a 56 (i'm 5ft11in) that is v-brake compatible and takes road wheels and a rack (a CX frame maybe) let me know. I don't need a fork I have one.--
