My neighbours response this afternoon is great - 'If any f**kers started looting round here I'm blow their f**king heads off', funnily enough given the recent wording on reasonable force, if 20 of them attacked my house I think I'd do the same with some nice SG shot.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.

I was stunned earlier watching bbc news channel

<WTF>I heard some woman interviewed on the Jeremy Vine show on BBC Radio 2 this morning. She reckons it's because people live in expensive houses, drive expensive cars, politicians swindle expenses and these poor kids will never own houses, expensive cars and so forth. And this is what's wrong with a proportion of the yoof of today - they EXPECT their needs to be met, and don't think they should have to work for anything. It's been a slow drip drip demise due to the lack of discipline in schools and from parents, bad behaviour being rebranded as ADHD/ADD etc etc etc, combined with this double dip recession thingy, redundancies, and a culture of 'want'. I probably won't ever own my own house, I have a 9 year old car. I buy stuff if and when I can afford it, just like everyone else who does a 9-5 5 day week (and other variations based on shift work that you EARN A LIVING from) I could go on but I won't.*
Just picked up a copy of today's Nottingham rag (because of an article about cake club) and there were riots here last night, breaking into a shopping centre in an attempt to get into JD Sports and setting a local business on fire.
*Just to clarify, I'm not saying I don't think ADHD/ADD and other similar problems exist. I think that a lot of the time it's mismanaged - "oh he has ADHD, there's nothing we can do about it" When I was a kid you got a smack round the head/legs etc and detentions/grounding/removal of privileges.

its a strange old time isnt it!!
i actually feel bad for the police (i relatively recently had a change of heart about the filth) they are in a position where some are blaming them for not reacting quickly enough or robustly enough but the police know better than most exactly what happens when they react robustly and the public get up in arms about it.
the solution to this situation is complicated now as the whole nation has seen that it is seemingly easy to get away with doing as they please, they know they wont be shot, they wont be water canonned and in a majority of cases, they wont even be stopped.
as long as the people who have done some stealing are smart about it, they will get away scott free, no doubt, no question. i would actually imagine the police are far too busy to be chasing every ipod and every tub of whey protein that has been taken.
it genuinely angers me to watch the clip of 8 coppers trying to defend a street against massive numbers. it was completely clear that the 2 commanders were trained properly but the 6 people making the base line had no experience or idea what they were doing, it was a shambles and the honest truth is that those coppers were left out to dry on that street junction. they should feel angry at their management.
so, how do we solve the issue?
i have seen first hand the effects of water cannons and they would be the first option in my opinion, i certainly wouldnt put the military on the street: it would be carnage.0 -

Even the local newsagents had the shutters down a few minutes ago when iI went to get some bread and milk. The thing is that Pensnett literally can't get any worse. It's getting worse in Manchester with Harvey Nicks, Ugg and Arndale center looted and just heard that Selfridges has been torched, these buildings are a symbol of the rebuilding of Manchester after the bomb and now some arseholes think it's big of them to destroy. :x just want to scream faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarkWhat if your dreams and fears existed in the same place?
