Anyone else finding Pierre Rolland outrageous? Much gnashing of teeth here. Feels like Europcar brought a whole herd in Spain.

Not really, he's long been seen as a big climbing talent. He was top ten in the Dauphine last year (despite losing four minutes in the TT). He was 21st in the 2009 Tour aged 22 (again, losing twelve minutes in the various TTs).

i think there is a concertina effect where the front guys are not juiced up as much and the gaps in ability get crunched up

    IE is it more real?

2006 landis went truly solo across 3 mountains at 37kph!

andy with a fast start for 100km sitting in the bunch and help across the valley floor managed 32kph

    harder hills though

there has been no trains pulling all day long in the mountains on any stage

probably the best was Eurocar... LEO where surprisingly ineffective the few times they tried it going into the final climb

the doping is still there the effect is subdued is the impression

Juiced? What are you basing your suspicion on?

    Cyclisme a un vitesse? TM

Everyone says that having the yellow jersey boosts your performance, ups your thresholds, inspires you. I think that in Pierre Rolland's case being the support to the race leader has exactly the same effect. There's no dope like euphoria and you can't buy it in the local chemists).

Rollands been a fantastic lieutenant to TV, so much mutual respect and support. It's summarised the TdF for me.

Could Rolland be a serious GC contender in the future? It seems rather unreal to be asking that question about a French rider.

Yes, along with about a dozen other French riders if they learned to TT (Yes, I'm talking to you Christophe).

He'd need to improve his time trialling. It's pretty rancid.

A little pre-amble. Yesterday, on top of the Galibier

Cadel gets (rightly) a little angry with the journos.

Does eventually give them the interview.
