Stage 18 SPOILER

The damned frenchies changed it on me!
The number of riders outside the time cut was bigger than the number inside the cut, with 88 out vs 80 in.
Cue lots of cries of "That Schleck boy just pedals too bloody fast for my liking!"0 -

Tomorrow the cut of is likely to be less than 20 minutes. Cav needs to cling to Rojas. 20 point deduction tomorrow would see him 5 points behind ignoring the intermediate sprint. He'd then need to probably win on Sunday. How is it sorted if riders finish level? I assume it is on stage wins?0

Easier said than done lol
It all depends on the way they race the Galibier. The killer today came from the fact they blitzed up the Agnel and the sprinters were dropped 7km from the top0 -
have a little look where Gilbert finished today. I wonder if he will be spouting off about trying to get Cav eliminated again. berk0

oh an G finished 7.30 down on winner, one place in front of Uran who he nursed up the climb, really good effort that0

The confirmation on France 2 was that Cav lost 20 points for being "hors delai". He remarked to Gerald Holz that they had had information on the Lautaret that was not accurate and thought they had more time than was the case. Rojas was in the allowed delay so he did not lose any points. Cav has the jersey for 15 points. It should go to the Champs before being decided. I thought that there were only 40 (the second grupetto) who were outside, the first group crossed about a minute inside but it could be my deafness letting me down. They had to repechage, there were 4 from Europcar outside the delay. I think Chavanel was also outside. France rules OK!
One of the most impressive things was the state of freshness of Geraint Thomas at the finish. If he had not been nursemaiding Uran he could have finished not far off Vanendert and Contadour. Not bad for a non-climber. Perhaps he adapts better than most to altitude0 -
Basso without a blood transfusion=wheelsucker. He should have come to the front and had a go. It was so unfair to leave that to Evans. Still we will end up with a Fuentes client winning or a rider who has never been a half decent climber win the TDF. Today was a lousy day at TDF.0

At risk of repeating what everyone else has said, that was brilliant!"I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0

I'm sorry SfA, can you ever recall reality getting in the way of his posts? We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

I clung to the hope it might. Clearly this has never been the case?0 -

Oh yeah I saw that post. Proper detailed wasn't it? I thought it was just tongue-in-cheek
What on earth's happened to Levi and Radioshack in general? Ok, proper unlucky with crashes, but I don't hear Sherwin telling them they should've been in the first 30 of the peloton where you'll never ever crash?0 -

Too many eyes on them to properly prepare.0 -

88 riders outside limit. inc Cav, Cancellara, chavanel, Hushovd, Millar, Gilbert.

Always nice to get your alternative viewpoint, Dave."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Interesting looking at the results if the riders had been excluded:
Points 1: Rojas, 2: Cadel Evans, 3:Franck Schleck; 4:Sanchez; 5:Contadour; 6:Voeckler.
Riders lost: Cofidis 7; HTC, SAUR & Liquigas 6; Europcar, FdJ, Lotto, Lampre, Sky 5; Movistar 4.
Expect lots of griping from Movistar; the three lost from Garmin are Millar, Farrar and Hushovd0 -
I think Rojas might try to get in a break tomorrow to pick some of the points and hope for Cav losing points again... it could spice things up a lot for the Champs!x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Andy Schleck???
I'd bet my house on Schleck being clean.
Really?
Don't forget what Gibo and the blood tests (allegedly) said in that Giro....Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Sorry Blaze..really want Evans to win. Was still trying not to throw something at the TV there. Basso just seemed to hang in there..CE did the graft. Have cooled down now. But who wants a Schlek win?0 -

Andy Schleck a Fuentes client?0 -
Well, what a stage. Humble pie consumed. Well done Andy -big time.
And Cadel, Voeckler owes you a beer or two.
This is turning out to be an epic Tour.Mens agitat molem0 -
FFS ... It's not hard to sort out ... Just don't allow anyone in either the points or mountains classification to keep ANY of their points if they miss the cut ... Cav can ride to Paris and win on TCE but not win green ... It's just plain cheating to be dq'd fair and square and then allowed to win a classification ...
I'm no Cav fan or hater ... Just looking for fair play to guys like Rojas who put in a shift ... Any less deserving of his jersey than TV?0 -

Apart from the no DQ being perfectly within the rules.0 -

+1.
Except that I think that they should finish the Tour to get anything at all and that the cut-offs should be inviolable - no repechage. It would make teams and Tour management face up to the reality of the somewhat farcical situation that exists at present. And if they have to change the delays to make the thing work, and end the reign of the sprinters' teams on the flat stages it will probably improve the quality of the race (although not everyone would agree with me)0 -
20 points doesnt seem harsh enough but rules is rules.0
