Epic stages. Best Tour in years.
Who would have thought that the Schlecks would have the both bottle and tactical nous to go from that distance.
Fabulous performance from Tommy Voeckler, who is having an incredible season.
    57 seconds isn't enough.
Frank to go early, tomorrow and Cadel now knows that he has to do it all himself.
The Spanish are dead ducks and Basso is bereft of helpers.

Once again, I get the feeling that the Aussie will get pipped at the post.

    Doubtful.
Ricco & Piepolli departed the bunch at such a speed & kept going. Landis held all at bay, all alone, Schleck was fading over the last few Km & had received quite a bit of help from others on the way.
Still, it's a pity we have to think this way!

27 mins down and only 53 in. I suspect there's going to be a big group testing the RD's patience and willingness to bend the rules!

Where is Cav? And Rojas? And Gilbert? And Hushovd? And Boasson-Hagen?

Weren't they all in the grupetto together?

Could we have all the top 5 of the green jersey competition eliminated on the same day?! That would be mental.

Edit: too slow, I see Rojas is in.

Bus of 80, in 2 minutes late. A lot of big names including Cancellara and Chavanel, so expect the result to be all in, no one out.

    Yikes.

Only 51 make the time cut... including Rojas.
Still, they'll have a joke of a day tomorrow if they send everyone else home surely?

The Gruppetto is safe, they are retained in the race.
