Yes. Some people make a living doing just that.

(It's also how bookies work too. If a certain result carries too much liability they bet on it with another bookie. Banks seem to work that way as well, but then they're just upmarket bookies anyway)

Don't understand: what is a 'lay' function? you bet for Cav NOT winning the stage??

yes. If he doesn't win, you'd win the other punter's £2 stake. If he does win, you pay whatever odds are quoted.

gawd, you must think i'm from mars: it is the case however that betting is not so popular at all here in the NL. thanks.

Is Eurosport player working for anyone else? I just get an error when I try to login: "*An error occurred, please try again!"

Millar has been joined by a number of riders now, Chavanel and Tony Martin, Bole, Flecha, Zubeldia and a handful of other riders.
Sounds like a day for the break with riders like that in it.

I've only just worked out how Betfair works

Normally use PaddyPower but Betfair seems to give better odds

Is there some cut off time for when they have to make a decision whether to stick with the route or curtail it?

Yep - sounds like another break started to go away and has then also been caught since the Millar break.

Thanks. I tried a few times and then it suddenly let me log in and is working fine now. Weird.

think the route is as advertised. Doubt it would be changed mid-stage

Unless it's the Giro. They changed the Zoncolan stage about 3 times in the final hour!

That's what I was thinking because otherwise it's completely unfair on a team like HTC who don't know whether to work to only let the 'right' breakaway go or just to sit back and rest.

according to official ticker it was a 59 year old driver for IT support, doing his 27th TdF as driver, 'found dead'.

73 km done, almost halfway, and still no break of the day established - if this continues they'll get to the intermediate sprint as complete peloton

Thats only 40m gain in about 1300m (3%)- even Cav wouldn't need to be towed up that

Feed zone... break might get a bit of leeway now. Kreuziger, Roche, Mollema, Hesjedal up the road in a group of 12-15.

    Edit: And Hoogerland.

No, but Gilbert and Rojas will probably sprint faster uphill. Or Goss....
