Talk the descent will be cancelled as the weather is so extreme today.

Will that mean they finish at the summit of the cat 2 climb?

    Ah, shame.

    That affects the PTP....

Assume they'd just skip the whole extra loop with both climb and descent? Can't see the logisitics of a last-minute finish location change...

Just seen Harmons tweet with the weather. It looks positively evil. Tommy V will be a happy boy I reckon

yep. although... there would still be a descent into Gap, although on bigger roads. A kamikaze descender like chinny could do damage. And the whole day is very gently up hill, no climb, but 'vals plat'.
Still mostl likely a day for a break though....

The police could block the road. Alternatively why not a finish at the intermediate sprint? Or just neutralise the stage.

All the same this is the Tour de France, there will be big "show must go on" pressure. Yes it's wet but this is no surprise. There's time to put on special tubs for the wet, to adjust tyre pressures and to dress for the bad conditions.

    Gerdemann?

Still, it'd be nice to know what the parcours is before they set off.

Not if they cancel the descent I wouldn't have thought - Voeckler knows how to go down hills a lot faster than either of the Schlecks can.

Unless it's snow or ice then surely they have to race the route as planned - perhaps some pressure is being applied from certain teams and with the death of WW still fresh I suppose the organisers are going to be sensitive.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

Never used betfair before. To get these cavandish odds Am I placing a back or a lay?

It now says "found dead" rather than killed.

Back, but the best you can get is 140 now. It changes all the time.

Suppose the route is changed, and HTC ride, then his odds will drop to about 2. Then you can use the lay function to guaratee a profit.

Yes. Some people make a living doing just that.

(It's also how bookies work too. If a certain result carries too much liability they bet on it with another bookie. Banks seem to work that way as well, but then they're just upmarket bookies anyway)

I got 150. Placed a bet for £2 that was matched. Let's see what happens.

Weather has improved so I think the latest is that they are holding to the original route

Don't understand: what is a 'lay' function? you bet for Cav NOT winning the stage??
