John, i was just having a closer look at you impressive spec, as i only had brief scan earlier when i first saw your new thread, as i was a little busy at the time.
These Enve Rims are seriously cool, and damn light for the AM sector. This is the first time i have come across them.
I also noticed that you have gone for Tune hubs again, how have you found the robustness of them in the past?
I'm about to do a wheel build, and was thinking going for King and Kongs with ZTR rims and Sapim CX Ray spokes, but i'm a little hesitant about how strong the Tune's will be for Trail and AM abuse ( are Prince and Princess more robust?).

    Charlie..

IMHO the strength/stiffness of a wheelset is more on the rims and spokes, not the hubs.
Are you going with Flow or Crest rims?
I was also heading towards Tune K&K hubs but I just couldn't help myself to the P&P limited edition hubs. Got a sweet deal plus you normal have to buy a complete package in order to get these. Also it is hard to find a full Titanium free hub.

The King and Kong is more robust than the Princes/Princess as it has less carbon on it. But of course it is heavier. Did you see that I have converted rear to X12 and the front to a QR15. This will make them even more stiff and I'm pretty sure they weigh the same as the K&K hubs now.
Saying that my Tune Prince/Cannonball sl hubs, XC Enve/Edge rims and Sapim CX Ray spokes wheelset on my Flash takes a fair amount of beating. I've had no issues with them at all.
The XC Edge/Enve rims are amazing, so stiff and strong with a rider weight limit of 110kg! So I knew I had to get the AM version,

This is a photo of the axles that came off the Tune P&P hubs. Check out the full carbon axle of the rear hub 8)
    TuneQuickReleaseConversionKitaxis9to15mm.jpg

I am currently using 3 wheel hubs. The I9, Dt Swiss 190 and Tune Prince and I like them all.

I know in the past many people have had problems with Tune hubs, but I think they are pretty reliable now. I've been using them for over a year with zero problems. Of course making sure they are always cleaned and the rear hub is well lubed.
Tune was always a work in progress kind of company but they are getting better and better. You know everything is hand build. I actually when to there workshop in Germany. Its a small wooden hut. :)

I'm still undecided if i will go for Crests or Flow ( I did fancy building with different rims as ZTR's are so damn common these days, but they seem to be the current leaders for strength. value and weight).
My ridding buddy has been rolling on a set of Crests for the last 6 months on his SC Blur LT, and they seem to be pretty tough rims for there weight. Also Project 321 in the US are doing them in custom colours, which is more appealing ;)

    http://www.project321.com/products_bike-stans-rims.php

I had seen quite a few previous reports of various Tune hubs failing at different areas
around there shells. And then there was also the soft freehub body's problems. But i have read much less recently, so i also figured that these problems had been addressed. As you said, they seem to be an evolving work in progress design.

Do you strip your Tune hubs down to clean and lube them? If so, how often?

Those rims look great. Very nice. 8)

Between 2-3 times a year that I strip my hubs but maybe more if I've been riding in bad conditions or have done +1000km in a month.
Also I know for sure that the "soft freehub body problem" is fixed. No more problems with that.

Question for you, is the wheelset for your Rize, a new bike and is it non-lefty? Also Crest is good but not as stiff and strong as Flow but of course a wee bit heavy. Are you riding XC or more trails with this new wheelset?

2 to 3 times a year is not so bad for stripping and cleaning, and from what i have seen online, servicing king kongs seems pretty straight forward..

Yep, it will be a another wheelset for my Rize (which has still not be rebuilt yet. its a long story), and i run TALAS RLC Fit 140mm forks on it with Mavic ST's.

I was using my Rize as my multi-purpose bike. Everything from basic XC training routes, trails, to double black diamond kamikaze stuff.
I was initially thinking of building a wheelset for XC type riding, but more robust then "race day" type wheels. And that's why i started to look at the light weight Tune hubs. But im now wondering if i can have the best of both worlds, sacrifice a bit a weight, and build a pretty light but still tough wheelset.

I'm 6'2, 86kg, but have a pretty smooth, mechanically sympathetic riding style. The only time i really ever break components is when i crash ;)

Not many lightweight lockons, Poshbikes are doing a 15g pair of 'Nitrile' grips push ons.

considered using bar tape ? i was given some S-Works tape with my Spesh Toupe saddle, so ive put it on my bars. IMO much more comfortable than the Superstar grips i was using before, and the tape weighs buggar all

Ok, I see but I need Lockon grips only because it will help protect my carbon handle bar ends. I don't usually use lockon grips. No need for XC bikes but I think it will be better for a AM style bike.

you still use these uk suppliers even though u are in HK??? (i know u buy specialist kit from germany etc but i'm a little surprised u still order from uk sites - i suppose u get tax free rates but is it really cheaper from these sites?

when you start weighing spacers, star nuts and bolts then you must be very serious.
