well, guess what, i've bought a carrera fury from halfords today! they said we can order you another one in a weeks time mint condition with no scratches etc and i said i don't have time waiting, so i bought it for £430 .. good price ?????
i have pictures but don't know how to upload them ???
flippin hell, i nearly flew off the bike when i tried to do a wheelie, it's so light from the front but when you get off it, it's heavier for some reason, it weighed the same as my carrera kraken 4 years ago, thats weird.!
anyway was it worth £430???
and also, my favorite colour is green you see, so im gona put everything green on it like, green hub caps, black grips with green ends, green fork tops, green quick release, green skewers, green spacer ultralight which i don't know what's for?!, more or less every little thing green and the bottle holder screws green! im gonna privately email koo koo bikes on ebay and ask them to do me a discount on all the kcnc parts ive just mentioned above.
theres like £50 worth of stuff there but knowing me and my del boy skills, i'll get it all for £30 with free delivery hehe!
by the way, the bike was scratched from the derailer both sides, looks awful the scammin bas***ds!, the brake lever white pain chipped off, the rims have a scratch on them, what the hell are halfords playing at, it's all these little asswipes that work there who think they run everything, let me get behind the counter and ill sho ya, al be giving people discounts everyday lol lol0 -

Well, I reserved one last night at a different store but turned out that I mistakenly reserved a 20" and not an 18"! oh well, that pissed me off even more as I did not know how that could have happened. So, I went and bought this one with sratches on it and they said it's due to the chain pressing against the derailer or back triangle whatever it's flippin called, why can't you stupid nerds just give it a simple name and call it what it is, a bike? bludy hell.
So, I paid £430, well, I now have a carrera fury, welcome to the family, i feel so proud to be part of it .. and here on bikeradar as well 0 -

And in answer to your earlier question, I would say that you got a pretty good deal considering it is an alright bike Dont go out and buy loads of rubbish that you do not need, firstly just ride it... "If someone can see that your seatclamp is green as you ride past, youre not riding fast enough"

thanks chris, i know, i will do, but, guys, and girls, i think my furys gonna get nicked, i live in britains no1 hotspot for uninsured drivers lol and walking with the bike home today from town everyone was staring at me and the bike, i looked more prettier than the bike but u kno. the bike just had a better name, i was just like the bike but better looking, lol joke ..
everyone on the road was staring at me, they were hating me because im sexy, lol joke
i thought id replace some parts like a green bottle holder and i need a special bike lock to lock it incase this bike gets nicked, also, the wheels might get nicked and thought there might be
a way to prevent them getting nicked?
also, i don't like the handle bars, but that will change over time hopefully.
now im just wondering, if i was to go on train from city to city, where on earth do i put the bike, i've seen people put them in little side door compartments where you lift the bike upside down and shove it in this metal thing, can't you just put it anywhere on the train?
I'llcreate a new thread if i know how, and post in the right section.

Go on amazon, and buy a heavy duty oxford lock (they're about £30 but almost certainly worth it, a bit of a pain to carry around though) Anyone who sees that on your bike, will not even go near it.
You said you were 'walking the bike home'. Why not ride it??
I have had to take the train with my bike several times in the mornings, and I have stood next to it in the clear area next to the doors, with no complaints from other commuters. I would not recommend simply putting the bike "anywhere" as this will make the already disgruntled commuters even more annoyed, as well as making yourself look like a bit of an inconsiderate pr****.

wow thanks, well, I looked at the oxford bike locks and they are about £50 on eBay, expensive! also, I don't know if you can do this but, have you seen motorcycle disk locks with alarms? well I was wondering if that was worth a try as well, does anyone think this is possible?
as for walking the bike home, the gears were slipping as I had taken it out of the shop and he said the gears need to stretch or something, I took it out today after 5 days and the gears slip, is this normal on any new bike? I tried making a video for it to post on here for a new blog called, Carrera Fury 09 '18 (2011) Pictures & Videos, but I can't seem to get the video right because I don't know how to explain each part on the bike, as for pictures, I took loads of them.
I need to buy somethings for the bike but, I'll have to create that new blog in a moment I guess. Well,s I walked home with the bike and as I was doing just that, everyone was staring, cars, the bike is a head turner, now, I just can't understand why people are selling their Carrera Furys all of a sudden, it's literally stupid, they make excuses like, "bought it a month ago and the wife said you don't use it so, why not get rid of it?"
anyway, what I need now is a replacement for that seat hmmm I think I'll create that post!
Oh and I had to move the bottom bracket from right to left, just a bit more to the side of the frame because the wheel was catching the gear or brake cable and I thought it was going to snap, good thinking, that's mission solved, my Carrera Fury is safe in that aspect.

WTF! How the hell did you manage to move the bottom bracket from right to left?!!! Its screwed into the frame! You didnt try and bend the frame or something did you?0 -
It's not lol, look underneath the frame, there's 2 holes on the bracket and you can just unscrew it as there is already one hole in the frame, just underneath and next to where the pedal crank goes on, and, you just move the bracket and put the screw in to the 2nd hole the bracket has, then, it gives you more room for a tyre width bigger than 2.3, you can get a 2.4 in there now.
I think Kaytronika mentioned it hers broke or something and she was waiting for it to get replaced. It's that little plastic thing that goes underneath ya frame which holds 2 cable wires that run right along the lower frame all the way to the top near the stem base of the fork.0 -

I'm a he, you appear to be talking about the gear cable guide. The bottom bracket broke on my bike, that's the metal axle that holds the crank arms and screws into the frame.

Apologies to those who aren't really interested in Carrera Furys, but after a few pages of questions I thought I'd put some better pics online.
New saddle, hoping my arse will thank me for it.
Replaced BB lathered with Halfords' finest Bikehut purple grease. They managed to coat half the frame too for measure. The paint on the cranks is thinner than Madonna's spindly arms.
Eventually I'll get round to taking the cassette off and skimming that plastic guard thing.
Starting to pick up the odd scuff and scratch now. Ah well.
I don't like the gold in the decals, would have prefered a grey/silver colour. Not losing sleep though.

Nice pictures, loving the green, I still think you paid a bit too much for the KCNC quick release, I bet that was about £12-14?
The KCNC bolt on lever was cheaper and better, you have a lot of scratches on the bike, why haven't you got a chain guard for the sharp edges?0 -

I already had a black bolt on QR clamp, it came with the bike... You'll find one on yours too... But as I've mentioned before I like to vary the height of my seat post when I ride... Higher for when I'm climbing, lower for downhill. With the standard clamp or a green bolt one I'd need to pull out an allen key every time I changed heights.
A chain guard? You mean one of these?
They come on budget bikes... I have no need for them because I don't cycle in baggy trousers. I cycle in baggy shorts or tight fitting padded leggings in extreme cold.
As for the scratches, bikes get scratched... Especially when you use them.
On a side note, I also addressed the headset today, which felt a little notchy on turning the bars... Just loosened it off a little... and lowered the bars by 1cm, will see how I get on with that at the weekend.
Also ordered some semi-slick tyres as I'm signing up to do the Manchester to Blackpool in July for charity through work.0 -
Semi slick tyres turned up, did 25 miles on them... Massive difference in handling on road as you'd expect... Plus I might have hit a few drop offs on them for fun.
Rode along the Liverpool Loop line... It's been turned in to part of the trans-pennine trail and as you get to the end somebody has put in some drops and tabletops in the woods. It'd be rude not to give them a go! Funny how you find stuff to ride where you least expect it.
Back to knobbles for Monday's ride in Delamere I think.
Made a mistake while ordering the tyres, ordered 16" for some reason... I followed it up with an e-mail to the supplier who quickly changed the order, then yesterday both as 16" and 26" pair arrived. I'm an honest bloke so I'll send the 16" back.0 -

Yes I meant one of them, chain ring guards, doesn't matter if you don't need one, do you wear shorts all year round and even for work whilst you ride it to work, if you work?0 -

Nice thread, apart from the odd interjection :roll: and a nice bike. I've just upgraded to Epicons on my Hardrock, how do you find them? I can't test them properly yet as I've managed to break my little finger :x0 -

I'm a bit fan of the Fury.. Bought my dad one a while back and taken it on a few rides. Brilliant piece of kit for the ££0 -
that, it is. I love mine. saddle up and it makes a nice all day XC machine and with it dropped I'm happy to kick it around the streets (I'm trying to learn a few trials skills, as well as drops) and the DH course.The Northern Monkey wrote:nice
