There are calculators you can use online to convert your HR to RPE, something which I've done, but don't pay much attention to. As I don't have a power meter, and my max HR is 199 (i'm 23 by the way, 24 this year) I just double the RPE and multiply it by 10 and that's my HR, eg 8/10 = 160bpm, seems to work out okay.0

downloaded the hunted and angels the other day, already got fight club and downward spiral. my only problem is, the two most recent ones come up as compressed files and take about five minutes to load up. is anyone here good with computers and know what that means and what do i do to solve it?0
-
Unzip (decompress them) to another folder.
Example:
Download the file (compressed zip file) from Sufferfest.com to your desktop.
Double click it. (It sould open a window.)
Just drag and drop the files in that window to another folder (call the folder sufferfest vids)
This will "extract" or "decompress" them to that folder.
Next time you want to watch that video just open the "sufferfest vids" floder and play from there.
Also download the latest DivX player from www.divx.com, and this should sort you out.
If it still slow you might have a bug/virus or just an old comp.0 -

Downloaded and did Fight Club last night.
More demanding and generally better than Downward Spiral I think.0 -
Downloaded the Hunted and Angels. (already have downward spiral and fight club)
The hunted was harder than I thought it would be. Its good, but the long 20 minute effort seems to drag. Angels was great, really made the time fly by0 -
New one (Local Hero) out at the weekend. A longer session (about 85mins)...0
-
Killer.
EDIT: Just bought The Hunted, gonna rock it tonight.0 -
Hard training discipline never came in VHS format....0
-
Indeed, nor STIs. Or puncture resistant clincher tyres. Or technical clothing.0
-
I wonder how long Local Hero will take to downloadits only money0
-
These vids are great, although killers. my husband thinks its amusing to watch me try to kill myself on a stationary bike..
Anyhoo I might buy Angels to add to the collectionLevel 3 Road & Time Trial Coach, Level 2 Track Coach.

Did The Hunted tonight, wow, that last 5 minutes hurt! In fact, I hurt from about half way through the climb :oops:0

I did The Hunted on Sunday - it's a beast. My legs have only recovered today.0

I just cannot believe how many folk have been drawn in by paying this nonsense.
Your all as bad as those tarts who go to spin classes because they enjoy the motivational aspect of looking like a prize prick.0 -
does anyone know which track starts playing at the end of the "suffergest is normal" video?0

Bit harsh don't you think? We all do what we need to do, why even look at the posts if it's not your bag?
Some people were made for there forum names.0 -
I dont think its harsh. I'll happilly part with my money for quality goods but not this rubbish.0
-
Anyone tried using these vids on rollers? Or is that asking for trouble? I don't have a turbo at home.0

If you have not purchased any of the Sufferfest Videos and parted with your money how can you comment on them.
I have bought three so far, easy to download, very clear picture, great soundtrack, and above all a killer work out on your own road bike that cannot even start to be compared to a spin class.0 -
I was gonna bite, but the guy is clearly a troll so really can't be bothered.0

Agreed. I have got Angels, and it's pretty good.
Maybe the picture isn't quite as clear as I had hoped, but that really doesn't matter too much.
I expect it would be possible to improve, but basically thumbs up - I don't have a better alternative. It certainly makes turbo sessions go faster.0 -
Far from trolling all i am doing is stating an opinion that differs to that of your own.
If i go out for a run, i don't feel the need to go out and buy a 'running cd' to listen to.
My gut feel is that a lot of folk are being taken for a bunch of mugs and sucked in by the marketing.0 -
Last winter I did some turbo sessions which I got off the internet, typical interval type stuff, and even when listening to music I found them really boring, it was difficult to get motivated and I was only riding once or twice a week, and not particularly hard, nowhere near as hard as I could be.
This winter, I've downloaded all of the sufferfest videos and have been doing them every other day, changing the workout weekly to keep things fresh. I've found myself actually wanting to ride my bike, the time goes fast and I really enjoy myself. When I look at my data from the workouts I did in November even compared to the December ones I notice an improvement, I hope that if I keep it up over the next few months I will improve even more.
I'd love to be able to do all my training based on feel and not use any kind of training guide, be it a book, a thread on an internet forum about the best way to improve my cycling, or a turbo training video, but unfortunately I'm not that way inclined. You may consider me a "mug" being "sucked in by the marketing" but when I see an actual improvement in my cycling, it seems that they're actually quite useful. Yes I could have done the same kind of workouts without the videos, but as I stated, last winter I had no motivation to ride just listening to music or watching something on tv, this year I actually enjoy riding on the turbo. Plus for the sake of £8, it's a no brainer really.0 -

Do you actually use a turbo trainer?
I think most people buying this (myself included) already use a turbo trainer and have tried music, youtube clips etc, but find these videos an improvement. Turbo training is inherently extremely boring, so the threshold for improvement is not high,0 -
Yes i do use a turbo, but generally only when the weather is inclement or i'm doing something specifc. If i'm on it i focus totally on what i'm doing, even if that means listening the variation in my fans motor for 2.5 hours
Its only boring if you make it so.0 -

Does that come from the same group of idiotic saying as "only boring people get bored"?
Thanks for completely ignoring my post by the way.0 -

+1
A lot of the time the turbo is the only option for me and in the past I've not been motivated enough.
Sufferfest is great for me. I enjoy watching cycling DVDs but I'll just spin along rather than concentrating on effort etc.
I'm certainly no mug and Sufferfest is far from being rubbish!
Look forward to the new one0 -

Probably ok for those who haven't got much going on upstairs.0 -

Ok smartarse - what do you do with your mind in a 100 or 12 hour when you cannot listen to anything under the rules ??? - I can assure you there's PLENTY going on up there in those sort of events as there is when i train...0
