should i go 2x9 ? i am thinking about it and i'm quite convinced0
-
I run it and it's good, I'd get these: http://www.rutlandcycling.com/32347/FSA ... n=pid323470
-
thanks - that looks good but will i need a different shifter ?0
-
No you won't. Just make the small ring gear 2 and the big ring gear 3 and make it so gear 1 causes no movement on the front mech.0
-
CRC are selling avid brakes very cheap at the moment-£30 for a juicy 3 rear brake etc
If your current brakes dont work, it would probably be better to get the brakes sorted rather than replacing stuff that currently works.0 -
£30 for a juicy 3 is too good to refuse.0
-
cheers for that leaflite- looks like i'll be buying one ! and ollie 510
-
while riding the midlands xc, i geared down for a hill into the granny ring (on the first lap !) and first thought that my chain had come off. but i was wrong it had snapped ! but i've bought a new one and a shiny new SLX cassette0
-
looking good and well done on the races!
i would defenintly get some better brakes
these formula k18s are only 125 when you become a member on their site

I've had three sets of juicy brakes (two of which are threes) and they've all been faultless.
Agreeably the formulas are better.0 -

The bike's getting along nicely btw...0 -
thanks for the advice guys but i think i'll wait till after my birthday when i've got a bit more cash. btw its the 12th of june not long !0
-
another race and another win ! i bought a new chain on friday just before the race . the bike is riding well apart from the brakes :x :?0

Formula Oro K18s f+r including 160mm rotors. bargain at £109 from CRC. The price is that good that i've just bought a set

Don't buy Formula brakes without first checking their own online store (link from www.formula-brake.it). They's been having deals on Oros for a good while now which were under 100 quid last time I looked.Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

my dad got me some new brakes for my birthday (yesterday) so i tried to fit them today but my current rotors are 164mm for some reason :? so i ordered these (http://www.xcracer.com/shop/viewproduct ... oductid=84)so that my brakes will actually work ! i did want red ones but they're out of stock and i need them ASAP cos i got a race on friday.
i will put up some pics when the rotors come and also when i fit the brakes 8)
btw the brakes are these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PAIR-Shimano-M505 ... 0600522348
although without the rotors0 -
fitted the brakes- well the front one anyway the reason is because my frame is IS mount, and the brakes post mount. the forks are post mount so thats ok btw the old brakes were IS mount so the front one had an adapter. i tried to use it but it didn't work
i just ordered this from merlincycles :

Looking good, jsut turn around the rear qr lever so it's facing backwards. Like this it might get knocked open and that could end badly... :shock:0
-
i was told on a british cycling training day that its best that way round :shock:0
-
starting to look tidy mate what travel are your reba's? can they adjust to 120mm? I wanna pair for the vengeance as the zocchi's are starting to p*ss me off now. They are okay but now where near as smooth as they should be considering the amount of money they charge for em!!!0
-
Looking good mate.......I've not read the whole thread-cba! What category do you race? Guessing that you snapped your chain at Birchall?!........that last climb was a reet barsteward! I was running at 25t road cassette at the rear-big mistake :shock:0
-
j96-2 - they have 100mm of travel and yes they can be converted to 120mm internally
tom bb - thanks i race in youth and yh i snapped my chain in the first wood section just before the long descent with the log jumps things
thanks for the comments0 -
Ah right.....you didn't even make it to the big climb then! Hard luck-you done many of the nationals?......I'm not at the next Midlands, but will be at the final round.......Riding for Lichfield/Zipvit-we've usually got a gazebo up. Pop over and say hi0
-
well i did the climb on my warm up laps yh i rode round 1 at sherwood pines and got absolutley thrashed i would say hi but i don't think i'll be riding anymore of the midlands xc this year :roll:0
-
oh yeah btw the bike is at my LBS atm because the brake hoses need shortening and i don't want to atempt to do it myself and wreck them  my saddle is being a ******* at the minute because its loose but when you try to tighten the bolt you almost strip the thread ? :x and it squeaks and creaks :evil:0
-
got my bike back today brakes feel nice . should have good chance to test them out in my mtb race tomorrow0
-
this bike has been stolen
absolutley gutted0 -
Absolutely gutted for you.
You've spent so much time getting it right, hope the F***er get strung up by his nads!
