If you take the tyres/tubes off the wheels and weigh them, if they are below 2ks/pair, you should be able to get a fair bit for them
  • the wheels are a decent weight and are well built with no buckles (as i am very light !) and have only been used for xc. so should sell :D

looks like i will get some new tyres after all !! :D in the form of schwalbe nobby nic and racing ralph cuz i found them dirt cheap :P !! LOL

    racing ralph £ 12.98

    nobby nic £19.99

can anybody tell me if the bigger tyre goes at the front or back please ? :?

Its your choice which tyre size you have on the front and back. Make sure you get the folding racing ralph (£19.99) rather than the wire one as it will be much lighter and better.
  • i've ordered 2.25s front and rear :o i just hope they'll fit !!! :? btw i'm not selling the wheels anymore :(

I'd say your larger tyre normally goes on the front.

In the case of the model of tyres you're getting, the Nobby Nic on the front (grippier for steering, larger profile blocks) and the Racing Ralph on the back (faster running, lower profile blocks).
    Winter: Moda Nocturne
    Road: Cervelo R3
    'Cross: Ridley X-Night
    Commuter: Genesis Day One

the nobby nic came on friday so i fitted it there and then :)
but i'm still waiting for the ralph !
cannock was good fun but it was very muddy in some sections and even with the nic i was still struggling for grip ! :o:(
  • i forgot to mention that the nic feels great ! :) if anyone is considering getting one do so because they are brilliant !! :P

the ralph came yesterday but i had no time to fit it then :( so had to fit it today :)

i was worried about tyre clearance but it was fine :D
  • how do you find the tyre combination, i had a nitemare when i had nics! every ride i got at least 1 puncture or front end washed out.............take your eyes off that on-one whippet as well
  • well i haven't had chance to ride it with the ralph on yet. but the nic felt good in the mud at cannock  although it did try to wash out on me several times :? but it was at about 45psi :P
  • very tempted to get these rather than the elixirs :o

    thoughts ???
  • drop the pressure and you'll notice a big difference. 25-30 PSI should do it.
  • k thanks for the tip getonyourbike :)

any good ? i think they would make the bike look nicer as they are white also help it stop better. and possibly save some weight !?
  • my local xc race series has a packed calendar so me and the xtc should have a good chance of victory ! (in the youth section !)

The bike'll do you fine for racing good luck with it, remember to train plenty if you want to win. Stick up a thread in health and fitness if your unsure of what to do or you could pm me :) Good luck to you anyways.

Also it's nice to see the transformation it's undertaking, very similar to what I did to my rockhopper.

If you're looking at the Avids for that price, you should also look at formula's online shop http://store.formula-brake.com/.
Brilliant offer prices and the brakes really are works of art.

Liking the new stay protector BTW.. Gotta love freebies!

    looking good.

if i were you i'd pay the extra £40 or so and get some avid elixir 5s from merlin cycles
  • Can`t beat an XTC.Hold on whats that in my signature link below............!

Good spec choices so far,and good to see youv`e got the basics right first, with better fors ,wheels and tyres.

I run Nobby Nics front and rear or Nobby Nic/Racing ralph,on my XTC.I`ve always got on them very well and found them no more puncture prone than other makes.
    2006 Giant XTC
    2010 Giant Defy Advanced
    2016 Boardman Pro 29er
    2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4
    2017 Canondale Supersix Evo
  • i was thinking bout getting the elixirs but it depends how much my BMX sells for :?
i went out for a ride on saturday with my dad  in the mud and now she needs a clean :(
