    i'm considering getting these http://www.xcracer.com/shop/viewproduct ... oductid=78

  • I bought some Fork Juice from that shop and they were very good. The bike's looking very nice but why are there no pedals?

Sherwood is very flat, very flat indeed. I'd get the wind cutters; only 20g more a set (ish) and looks so much better and lethal of course. If you're in the youth cat I could well be against you :)

Oh right, I suppose It does makes sense, you could have 15 year olds against 17 year old using the old system, it does mean I only get the one year in the youth cat no biggie though.

It would probably be better to save up a bit more and get elixir 3s/5s or something else rather than buying jucy 3s now because they are cheap and then wanting to upgrade again in a years time or so.

avoid juicys. they are so maintenance hungry, i keep having problems with sticky pistons and don't get me started on removing brake pads.

I beg to differ. I've had three sets and they've all been effcient and capable; ok admitedly they only had to stop me (still sub 9 stone) Personally I've owned 3s 5s and Ultimates they all felt pretty similar to be brutally honest, you merely pay for less weight and some added adjustibility.

Be warned you are likely to have to bleed the brakes when you get them.

its interesting how the performance of the same brake differs ! ? :o btw thanks for the tips :)

you must be lucky because I've known loads of people to have the same problem with 3s and less with the others due to them being less popular. Somebody with 3.5s and 5s had the same problem on both and on the 5s, the reservoir seal failed too.

    I'll never touch Juicys again.

There are currently 5 bikes in the garage running a form of juicy brakes and not one has had any problems. There are better brakes out there however.
  • I have had Juicy 3s without any problems and now Juicy 5s....where are the problems we all should be watching out for

sticky pistons is the most common problem, the pistons don't retract fully so that the pad drags on the rotor.

DM- tbf, you haven't ridden on the Juicy 5s yet.

to be honest, the juicy brakes are all very similar; my juicy ultimates and 3s bar the one adjustment feature and different bar mount are the same brakes made out of different materials.

They're nice but you'll save a rather small 20g-ish per end over avid's rotors which is pointless, spend that money on a set of pedals so there's no need to keep swapping.

Put them bottom of your list, if you have money left over from something else you know what to spend it on. Just remember if someone can see what your disc rotors look like your not riding fast enough.:wink:
