I'm beginning to think that we're all getting FF wrong - he's actually the subtlest, funniest humourist in the whole of BR

I wish I believed that Bompington!

FF....How many podiums in serious one day races does Contador have? I can think of one...3rd at Fleche last year.

LA has won the worlds, Fleche, San Sebastian and podiumed in Leige, Fleche and Amstel that I can remember. He's even ridden Flanders a couple of times!

    That's true.

Contador may well go on to win some one day races (she should win Fleche at least) and may even do better than LA. The point I was making is that he is not the complete bike rider, yet.

Frenchie you're really cracking me up this morning! I'm sure all the ribbing is good natured though......

FWIW your photo threads and photos on spoiler threads are one of my favourite parts of the Pro Race forum :)

Cheers Tom. I have over 1000 quality photos edited to further improve them as well as an ever expanding album to edit. I don't post the best photos except once in a while. I have thought about trying to share them on the web somehow but we shall see.

You need to compare him to others in his generation. May I refer you to this thread for starters:

It's a little different. Armstrong was a different riders pre and post '98. He was an agressive, powerful one day puncheur type pre '98, and post he was a lean, fast GT rider with exceptional recovery.

Contador's an out an out stage racer. Sans ban, Contador was on track to obliterate Lance's GT record.

He wasn't always. His first Tour was a bit of a howler, wasn't it?

Funnily, he came on leaps and bounds when he rode for Bruyneel.

Wasn't that the first tour post - almost dying?

I might be wrong - I'm not super hot on Contador's history.

No, he was ill in 2004. He then did the 2005 Tour.

Edit: Ignore me. I misread the post.

He finished 31st in the 2005 Tour, which he rode with Liberty-Seguros, over an hour down on Armstrong.

But he was the most stylish loser, that year.

Should ask Wiggins about such a performance leap from one year to the next.

MADRID, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Triple Tour de France winner Alberto Contador will learn on Thursday the result of a doping investigation, the Spanish Cycling Federation president Juan Carlos Castano told Reuters on Wednesday.

Asked if Contador would be told of the provisional decision on Thursday, Castano relied: “Yes, we aren’t going to delay this any longer.”

Contador, who won the Tour de France in 2010 for a third time, tested positive for a banned stimulant clenbuterol in the race in July but has denied any wrongdoing. (Writing by Alasdair Fotheringham; Editing by Jon Bramley

Only goes back as far as 2005, innit.

Let's compare them when they're both done. Won't be long.

    Of course.

However, when using a 'head2head; basis both riders need to be in the same race to count. Pre-2005 Alberto didn't race against Armstrong, therefore pre-2005 doesn't count. Post TDU 2010, the 2 riders are unlikey to race together again. So we might have to final score.

    Not to be taken seriously.

And in half the races they're both sitting comfortably in the peloton.

Has a thread on Lancey boy ever run this long. Obviously Contador is the best cyclist in the World for the past decade hence why so many people care to contribute.

Past decade? You mean 2000 - 2009, where Armstrong won the Tour 6 times?

You kidding. I cannot be bothered to get into the long debate of greatness. I've said it before numerous times. Contador's palmares and abilities crush Lance's one-trick pony, huge drug assisted achievements.
