I have a sneaky suspicion that its going to be no ban at all..

I reckon the papers got a rumour of "1 year ban at most" and now blowing all out of proportion as usual..

Could be totally wrong but that's just how I see things..

Newspapers say anything. Either way, if true it will keep many people happy while still allowing him to come back and clean up at the Vuelta this year - will be the better than the Tour, especially if Anton, Sastre, Menchov, Sanchez, Nibali, Rodriguez and others are riding this climbers GT.

Afraid that Vuelta whatever the course will be poor mans cousin to the TDF.

I don't think UCI or WADA will be happy with a years ban at all. Nor will most cycling fans who wish to see their sport ran 'clean'.

Have you ever watched a Vuelta. Thought not. Light 'em up racing on the mountains.

Every year since Eurosport has covered it actually. Yes course wise it did beat the TDF last year. Although until last years course it had been tedious I thought seeing endless stages raced on closed dual carriageways with no crowds.

Please read my comment I wasn't talking about the race course I was commenting on the race overall.

In terms of winning a GT TDF would always be first on a ridesr list followed by the Giro then would come the Vuelta.

According to him he is not coming back if found guilty he will be retiring............yeah right Bertie even a convicted dope cheat like him( as he surely will be) can still pocket a wad after ban.
Gasping - but somehow still alive !

So, you'll be OK with him getting the one year ban, then.

Schleck wins the '11 tour. Actually, I wonder if LA might now decide to make another comeback. Afterall Michael Jordan (another Nike athlete) did a few comebacks.

Tour's are always great when major contenders are absent - look at how much we're still speaking about the 06 Tour :-)

Seriously, this plays well into Basso's plans for his first tour win.

Never heard of going to war over a newspaper article before, sounds more like this post is on non-PED's.

Plasticisers? Surely they can ban him for the plasticisers even if he gets off with the contaminated veggieburger thing.

PS Andy Schleck won't win the Tour.
    He'll come second. Again.

I actually think Schleck will bottle it and Basso take it.

Remember when Ricco was busted in the 2009 Tour...................with his bleached blond hair.

Probably just a coincidence though. Mistook the toilet bleach for the shampoo bottle one morning. It happens.

Will this thread make it to a century of pages (surely a record*) before a decision is made?

Must be an Italian thing - just like Marco Pantani and his Mercatoni Uno teammates all those years ago at the end of the '98 tour.

Meanwhile back to the original topic...

I would love them to ratify plasticizers as a valid test pronto and then retest the existing samples and nab him - but they won't so it's the clen or nothing

I reckon schleck will do it this year although it'll be interesting to see him being the hunted rather than hunter

  • Decision already Thursday according to Cycling Weekly.

    http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/lat ... rsday.html
A decision on Alberto Contador's case relating to his positive test for banned substance clenbuterol at the 2010 Tour de France is due on Thursday (January 27).

Waiting to see if this makes the first post on page 100.

Has a thread on Lancey boy ever run this long. Obviously Contador is the best cyclist in the World for the past decade hence why so many people care to contribute.

Past decade? You mean 2000 - 2009, where Armstrong won the Tour 6 times?

You kidding. I cannot be bothered to get into the long debate of greatness. I've said it before numerous times. Contador's palmares and abilities crush Lance's one-trick pony, huge drug assisted achievements.

That's rich. Lance still has not had a positive test. ...We're discussing Contador's positive test right now.

I'm not kidding. Take the things they have in common out of the equation (dopers), Armstrongs palmares are more impressive.

If Contador hadn't been excluded from the Tour in 08, do you think he'd have a Giro or Vuelta victory?

You should pick one of these up.

I always wonder about forum posters putting these big smily pictures or of ostriches with heads in sand or black kettles...maybe the ability to express ones opinion logically and well using the English laguage escapes them.

At the bare bones, Contador would have killed Lance in all the Tours he rode. And for me cycling includes much more than the Tour, something not understood by summer cyclist fans.

Oh, the irony of you trying to put down other posters for their use of photos and images in their posts..... by using a photo.

You just did it. You could have typed "Would you like some crayons" but you didn't. Perhaps you don't have the laguage skills for it. :D

I reckon Basso will win this year too by the way.

If they use the plasticizer test to prove Contador was blood doping I think they should do the test on all of the samples they have for those who would take the title from him.

I wouldn't even want to guess who'd win it then. I hope it would be Schleck but I wouldn't be very confident of it.
