Are they? I haven't listened to them. But are there ANY cycling commentators that people actually like?

I liike Phil & Paul. Even if it's not an exciting stage you get entertainment out of them saying the wrong names or saying names wrong!

True, Phil mentioned they were climbing the Alps today.

A few years ago I listened to eurosport online and I actually thought emma davies jones was pretty good but they rarely used her and seemed to disrespect her quite a bit. I thought the main commentators were pretty poor though.

Why didn't the Eurosport commentators mention The Flying Scotsman when they were talking about cycling films?

    D'oh! Fail

If (and I suppose its a big if) Horner and Armstrong are together in the leading group when they get to the finish will this be enough of an advantage to help Armstrong win the stage? Would Horner be any good as a lead out man?

there is the Team prize to consider. They get to stand on the podium in Paris and a 50K Euro payout. Plus most aggressive rider for LA today? so the TdF wouldn't be a write-off in terms of coverage/sponsorship etc

I'm loving Eurosport's coverage. Harmon and Kelly do a great job of covering stages with minimal action. Plenty of internet feeds if you don't like them.

I'm watching them on an internet feed... Plus, I don't speak Belgian!

Try the others! And that didn't stop me watching majority of the Giro with feeds.

No, Barredo gets most aggressive so far.

I mustn't have the same patience as you. Might just stick on some music and pretend they're doing what I do - ride a bike and sing a song at the same time. People look at you funny, but who cares - makes my day!

    Because it's rubbish, probably.

    Harman and Kelly are ok.

Duffield was terrible towards the end of his career.

Phil and Paul used to be ok, but they now have a huge US bias and seem to have
    lost touch with the sport.

The BBC guy who does the track and world champs is the worst by a mile. It's almost
like he's never watched cycling before.

BTW, Fedrigo having to defend his teammate's polka dots might have bad repercussions for him later.

Apparently that's because they're commentating for Versus in the U.S. as well as ITV

Anyone else think Navarro has a permanent look of befuddlement on his face when he's climbing? It's like he's confused about something, but just can't put his finger on it.

That'll be Hugh Porter - guess he didn't much chance to 'watch' cycling when he was winning multiple track world championships!

If Armstrong doesn't win this one, he deserves credit for taking the initiative, burying himself early on in the stage and for reading how the race would pan out to perfection. (Although what was likely to happen was pretty obvious!). If he manages to win as well, it will be about as believable as the outcome of a Giant Haystacks vs. Big Daddy wrestling match!

I reckon he's wondering if he turned the iron off before heading to Rotterdam.

Yeah, me too, they do look alike.

If Thor wins the sprint for 10th, he gets 6 points.

I take it then, that the favourites are just going to treat this as a rest day and do absolutely frack all to take any time on each other?

Barredo's helmet is huge, how is he going to stay away.
Kids, if you want to win a breakaway, don't buy and extra large BBB helmet - get an aero helmet or something, I'm surprised they don't change helmets and their wheels to 808s at the top of the mtn for this 50km of flat finish.
    When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.
