there is about a 1/2" of metal that it has the thread through at the steerer base and not enough space to turn it through to go down the leg,

I trust your judgement, since you're obviously the one who put it together, but I'm still confused, since... If it went in there once, it must surely fit through?

Ok, here's another approach, how's about an army of trained ants?

yes but to get it in there i had to make the hole.

well it is sorted, decided on using a flanged nut so that instead of welding something into the hole i welded something into the fork.

reversed the nut and inserted it into the hole welded it up and ground it down.

    now what to mount there?

    img0774t.jpg

    img0775p.jpg

also stripped the bike down ready for colour.

Oh and the caliper mount for info.

screw mounted whisky flask holder for the threaded hole please.

then get a hip flask powder coated in the same style as the bike. the holder ts self can be some strange contortion of thin metal bands or summat perhaps.

Ok less radically front light mount to keep the bars even cleaner? I'm sure you need lights a lot in Winter (September to April LOL).

Looking great, just because you can LOL, you'd get on well with Darren at work, he built a 36" wheeler (none of these poncy 29" for him) mountain bike because he could (MBUK Jan this year letters page), he's now looking at the phase 2 machine to incorporate lessons learnt.

well the second coat went on with problems. the can kept on throwing out dark grey patches, even after 5 mins of agitation.

    img0188ug.jpg

needs another coat and flatting and polishing at least.

  • Nicklous - did you just use a generic spray tin?

What method did you use to rub the frame down ready for painting?

    Any tips?

I've got the old muddy fox stripped and ready to restore but am stuck on how to freshen it up now!

Not orange for the rims, it'll look like a trek...

ah, sorry, I thought you were either still undercoating it, or were going to get some mad design painted on top.
Same colour for the rims? Make it all that colour.
