Yeh I've had the thickys before and they're very good. I tend to wear thickys on the bike and thinnys off it, although I'll wear thinnys when we finally get some weather worthy of it :P0

Current "waterproof" gloves are good at keeping the water out, but are completely soaked with sweat on the inside.
Have the original freeriders which have lasted pretty good for 3 years, but could do with replacing soon, and these look as they may hold the water off pretty good.0 -
A pair of white Fizik R3s, just in case I didn't already look gay enough on the white road bike with white wheels and a cheap compressor and airbrush from ebay so that I can spray plastic aircraft and live down to my role as a sad middle aged person.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -

I had a pair of those freeriders for birthday and they felt really grippy and comfortable in the 3 minutes I've spent on a bike since I had them, they'll get a good workout next week though0 -
Shimano SLX M675 Brakes. As much as I wanted saints/zee, I just couldn't justify it with SLX going for £100 on CRC.
Need some new 203mm disks now though.0 -
Epic Bleed Solutions Magura kit, as the brake lever seems to be getting a bit close to the bar.0

And some superstar Kevlar pads, to stop the metal on metal sound that I enjoyed for the last 10km of my last ride.0

I bought their Avid Elixir kit. Well designed and works perfectly. Realised they might need bleeding when the level was hitting the bar and I wasn't really slowing down0 -

OK so I used both the new gloves and the new shoes tonight. Conditions were pretty crap; 2 degrees and raining/sleeting.
Gloves - cold hands to start but warmed up nicely and very waterproof. Didn't notice just how wet my gloves were till I took them off. V happy with them.
Shoes - bag of sh*te. Not very waterproof. I guess they were never going to be 100% waterproof, but they are marketed as being more water resistant than standard 5 10 s, but as far as I can tell they let in just as much water. The insulation layer doesn't do much to keep your feet warm once wet either. I wore them with the same seal skinz socks I always wear but my feet were far colder than the last time I rode, in similar conditions, but with my standard 5 10 shoes. New stealth rubber is sticky, but almost too much. Fine once you get the right position, but then harder to shift that position. On its own, not enough to justify £85 over standard 5 10s.
I'm actually pretty p*ssed about the shoes as they don't really do what they claim to do. Going to drop 510 an email tomorrow to complain.0 -
I could have told you they weren't going to be very waterproof just by looking at that marketing photo.
What were you expecting.0 -
I'm with Briggo on that, I'm afraid. They look like you can stand in a puddle and they'll be dry, but anything that goes on top of the shoe will find its way inside. The problem with waterproof shoes, is that when water gets into them, the water doesn't get out, hence why your feet will have felt colder than normalIt takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

New cranks courtesy of my mum, after i got good results in my test, and i built a cupboard for her. And because it was on sale on CRC.
Ill be storing them away for when i get my new frame. Currently saving up for one, im not fully decided on what frame to get, but my first choice is a GT Zaskar at the moment.0 -
