I *almost* hope Hincapie wins. At least it'll stop the 'great white hope' stories every year and the endless coverage of why it went wrong once more. He's very good but not in the league of Ballerini, Boonen or Cancellara.
Forecast is saying dry and a headwind, but the course twists and turns in the final 90 minutes so it could well split in crosswinds, although the wind doesn't look too strong.
They've had several days of dry weather so the mud between the cobbles is cement-like, meaning the bike rattles even more.
I wonder if any big names will go in the early break. Isn't that how O'Grady won, by starting early and staying at the front of affairs?0 -
Any links to live coverage? good idea to put it in the OP when starting these threads..The British Empire never died, it just moved to the Velodrome0

Video feed should appear around 1240 BST / 1340 CET0

First break has, amongst others:
Maarten Wynants (Quick-Step)
Romain Zingle (Cofidis
Pozzato's been trying to get into that break, without much success.
Maybe he wants to show his respect to Ballerini in his own way, given that his illness has robbed him of a chance to win today.0 -
Any pics? The black Italian champs kit he wore when cyclo-crossing in the winter was very nice 8)0

Nevermind, answered my own question.

It's the same kit as he wore in the winter by the looks of it. Available from the good people at Prendas http://prendas.co.uk/details.asp?ID=26480 -

that kit is pretty awsome, i think even the most hardened club racer would wear that on a training ride without feeling like he's committing pro-tour jersey wearing sacrilegeMusic and Bikes and Alligators

Hit the first set of cobbles Secteur 27 at Troisvilles à Inchy at around 1pm (CET) 17 minutes behind the ASO's standard time to reach there.0

As predicted, a big northeasterly headwind has put the race behind on the dry schedule.

Stage 1 (8km TT) of Tour of Turkey was won by Griepel. Looks like the only other big sprinter is Chicchi.
After the death of a rider for the new Bahati foundation due to an idiotic car driver, I just read that Paolini was uncertain for the start today due to a car crashing into him and himbeing taking to hospital yesterday - anyone know if he was able to start?I watched the Tour of Flanders ten times on television this week and watched how I raced and how the others raced. I think I raced perfectly. I don’t know if I can manage to race like that at Paris-Roubaix. But I know who is going well and who isn't. I know who made mistakes. I'm ready.

Race still about 20 minutes behind schedule - that will mean Eurosport will go live in plenty of time for Arenberg and we should get to see secteur 18 Haveluy à Wallers as well. They'll probably go to air just after secteur 19.0
-
Arenberg will be on Eurosport. They're around an hour away and it comes on in three quarters0

Don't you believe it... not if the snooker/tennis/hamster racing overruns.
