Um, excuse me does this bike come with mudguard eyelets, clearance for tractor tyres and £2000 kleig lighting system, cos I wanna get run over in London and then, um, moan about it. And then go fast past some kid on a BMX and um, then boast about it online.
Oh, and yeah, I uh, wanna go slow.

Ditch the crap, come over to the darkside. Aloof, arrogant and fast.

You might think you need to go fast to overtake a BMX old chap, personally I enjoy winding up roadies by keeping pace with them on my singlespeed made of girders with panniers on the back.

Then at the weekend I AM a roadie and faster thanks to the commute.

So seriously, can someone explain to me what you all talk about in Commuting? After the usual threads on RLJing and commuitng times and distances - what else is there?

Or is just like Cake Stop but with membership cards? 8)

There is a lot of chest beating on 'scalping roadies'.

Very mundane and seems there are a few who have inferiority complexes about their choice of bike.

God... I thought internet alter-egos were meant to be more glamorous and exciting than real life...

What could be more glamorous than your internet alter-ego?

I was waiting for the roadies on this thread to marshal enough braincells to come up with a semi-worthy attack on the commuting forum.

At which point, I was going to point out that while they spend their time drooling over airbrushed pictures of girls in lycra shorts, we've got LiT over in commuting.

    Still waiting though.....

Nah, there's loads of women over in commuting. LiT is just an example. And we don't drool: we engage in intellectual conversation!

    fight fight fight fight.

Aren't we meant to be ganging up on the MTB'ers though? They're the real enemy with their mud-speckled, suspension ladled MACHINES OF DOOM.

Well - I guess if you're not a fan of professional cycling, then the Pro Race forum will be boring to you. SAme reason I don't spend any time in the Track section.

And no, Muc-Off doesn't damage your wheels, although apparently it kills of lot of brain cells if you sniff it.

Well the commuting forum does seems to have a chip on there shoulders about 'roadies'.

Need to show them the error of their ways.

I disagree, never encountered any anti roadie feeling, in fact most "what bike should I get" threads usually end up deriding people for fearing drops and telling them to get a road bike.

IP is right, MTBers are the enemy really, on their dirty agricultural mud churners yuck.

I take an interest in the pro events - but the 'pro cycling' forum contains very little discussion about pro cycling and plenty of threads where the same 5-6 posters attempt to 'out-insult' each other for no apparent reason...

We really shouls show some unity as roadies against MTB'ers.

    Chapeau.
