Paris - Nice Stage 2 **SPOILER**

A flat stage today with two intermediate sprints along the way but no categorised hills.

Romain Feillu (Vacansoleil) and Albert Timmer (Skil-Shimano) are up the road, they had around 5 mins lead but this has been cut in half to 2.30 thanks to Rabobank setting the tempo.

Greipel seems to be on a bad day, with Rabobank winding up the speed apparently he's been dropped, the same for several other riders. We'll see if the German is permanently dropped or whether his team can help him back.

In l’Equipe, Philippe Bouvet believes that prologue winner Lars Boom will be a man to watch in the classics: "Lars Boom might not win Paris-Nice, but everybody who saw him fly on the cobbles of the Nieuwsblad circuit last Saturday are convinced that he will soon become a serious contender for Paris-Roubaix."

Only a 30 second lead for the two brave riders. Feillu's move gives Bozic a bit of an easier day but 47km/h average so far  thanks to a big tailwind but the course is going to change direction in a minute and it'll be a crosswind all the way to the finish. This could be interesting.

Interesting, behind the 2, Boom gets the 1 second bonus for 3rd place at the intermediary sprint... wonder whether he had to sprint for that

Leipheimer crashes hard but gets back to the bunch.

Good to see Gilbert on the rampage but I can't help thinking he's wasting his energy. He might be more suited to the stage tomorrow or the day after. Today has bunch sprint written all over it. That said, the bunch is spread across the road and no teams are deploying a train yet.

I hope that Leakygas is Roman, though as he's my PTP pick, he's probably circling in a tornado with Dorothy.

Caisse and Astana in tandem. Someone big is out the back (Leipheimer being spoken of) and the Spanish compadres get together.

Half the Shack in the back group, which has sat up.
    All over for the Dwarf?

Riders everywhere....FDJ struggling to get back with Brajkovic?

    Massive gap!

What a wonderful Sidi advert, Alberto looks so stylish in that white tux...
    Le Blaireau (1)
  • My first thought when the Spaniards out the hammer down was that an RS was out the back

Boom! The race is blowing apart. The Spanish are giving the Dutch a lesson in echelon riding.

I trust you've filled out the requisite forms to remove that sentance from the archives?
