at the moment im trying to decide between some new riding glasses
im either going for the oakley split jacket with the transition lenses (clear - black) or the oakley jawbone with a extra set of clear lenses

I got some of these when we were in Spain a few weeks back. Comfy to wear and do the job.

If you want to meet up on the Friday say about 3.00pm I can show you a few additional routes which we won't be doing on the Sunday.

I'll decide closer to the day if I'm coming. I have concerns after our last outing that when it comes to Peak District riding I don't have enough fitness/talent to ride the uphills and I don't have enough confidence to ride the downhills.

    :(

youll be fine, we all struggled with the uphills last time, plus i think most of these climbs wont be as bad as the last one

You forget that I know these hills  . Are you still planning on missing out The Beast? Depending on which way round you're doing the route making a detour could add a good few miles to miss out what is quite a short descent and most of it can be bypassed on a smooth singletrack footpath anyway (or it could the last time I went down it a good few years back).

The possibilities for tinkering with the route are many and varied but if you're going to do the route that's in MBR then I'd suggest sticking to it as it is or you're going to feel that you've missed something.

Although having said that I might be tempted to go up the North side of Win Hill like we did on our first Slow Rides outing in February as this misses out about 3 miles of Tarmac and gets you to the same place up on the Ridge.

i was going to do the route in a clockwise direction (as in the route itself)
as to the beast, i would like to do it, but its up to those who turn up, if there is enough for some to go down the smooth singletrack to the bottom and some to do the beast then thats another option
on the map i have both routes meet up again at the start of the climg up to hagg farm

do you know if your allowed to park at the ladybower inn carpark or is it customers only
cause looking at the route it makes the most sense to start there

you couldnt draw it on a map could you

talking of maps, has anyone tried bing maps. its a lot like google maps, except you can actually use ordance survey mapping on it, just click on the little road button and a list drops down and you can choose OS mapping

Why not start at Fairholmes visitor centre? That's on the route as well and you have facilities there.

Both routes? The Beast and the diversion Mike talked about to miss it both come out at climbs back to to Hagg Harm crossroads where your FaceBook profile pic was taken, it just depends on which way you get up to it. The climb rom the bottom of The Beast is a much shorter climb but for some people (me included) 90% of it will be on foot. As previously mentioned Roo, the possibilities for tinkering with the route are many and varied, the best option is to stick to the route as it is set out and people will make of it what they will.

Nah mate, start at Fairholmes and pick up the route as stated, saving the Lockerbrook descent till the end. If you want to do it first you've got a silly-long drag up Hagg Side, and that's never fun. Saturdays aren't usually too busy and because we now know who we're looking for it doesn't matter so much is people want to use the free car parking lay-bys before you get to the visitor's centre and ride up to meet there at a time to be announced, saving the £4.00 parking charges for hot chocolate and cake when we get back!!!!!

you might be right there cheshley, also i did that change you recomended with win hill and the ride is now 17.17 miles

the route i have when you come down the beast takes you along the road to the same place as if you by pass the beast, that short but steep climb up you were talking about is one of the descents on this route, according to the mbr thing, you go down that back along the road and up again. like a little extra loop within the loop

If you think I'm riding up the Rowlee Farm climb just to come back down and have to go up it again you're very much mistaken!!!!!
