GRRRR I hate setting up mechs!!
I hope Mountain Mick has better luck than me it's just taken me 2 hours of faffing to get new mechs, shifters and cables installed and working, rear mech went easy, front mech still a complete mystery to me but at last it is working, worse thing of it is after a shake down ride it'll probably need fiddling with again :evil:0 -

have you got new front rings as well
no not yet wait till there worn out, but i'm on the look out now for a new seat post and handle bars, possibly in carbon for the Bling factor so anyone got any idea's as there's that many on the market it's a mine field out there.
Forget carbon seatposts mate, more trouble than they're worth and SOOOOOOOOO easily damaged. For seatposts there is only one option, Thompson Elite. I have one on the Road bike and when it needs a new one (or I find myself with £70 quid I don't need) the Spesh will have one as well.
i might have to check out tomorrow the size i have on now and take a look at that Thompson Elite looks great and cheap0 -

I love fiddling with me gears! They sometimes even work half decently when im done too....and sometimes they jump and ghost shift halfway up a steep climb. But the time it takes me to get them sorted is getting shorter and shorter.0

Cheshley wrote:kangaroo wrote:are you mocking my quest to find the ultimate tyre
No such thing mate, tyres for gravel, tyres for hardpack, tyres for mud, tyres for downhill, tyres for uphill........
Personally, in the (admittedly limited) number of tyres I have used, I have struggled to find a difference between them.
to a certain extent its true that there isnt a ultimate tyre
but there is a tyre thats best for me and my style of rideingwhat are brakes for again0 -

Well i've got the front deraileur shifter on and it only needed small adjustments but it worked stright away must be first time luck. Its the rear i'm not looking forward to as there's a new chain, cassette, gear shifter and deraileur to fit and set up :?0 -
where is everyone biking this weekend then ? need some ideas0
-
friday and saturday = cannock chase
tuesday = the peakswhat are brakes for again0 -
i'm going nowhere bike wise ..got in laws to take to the steam trains on sat (nephew loves em), then meal out with my 90 year old grandpa sunday, then Chipping Steam fair Monday.....then I'm old on tuesday lol
Caz xx0 -
i'm off no where apart from WORK but then tuesday looking forward to cut gate might be bit damp as we've had a few shower's over here in royston the last few day's, but should be a good ride0
-
Just local woods over the weekend if I get chance but joining PuddleRider, Roo, Mick and Nalla for Cut Gate on Tuesday.
The good news is that the SPD's have finally come off, I had to take it to the shop to get it done tho, so I'll be on flats for Cut Gate which I think is a good idea
@Frosty - That's a damn good price for a Thomson Elite post!!!! CRC have them at £62. I see that they now make the Thomson Masterpiece, 40 grams lighter but over £40 more expensive at £107 :?1998 Marin Hawk Hill

the tap was pretty cheap but it's a pain having to carry my own supply of water, i fitted it so i could clean my bike on the go0 -
Roo, There is definately a chicken run in place I used it last Friday!
Mind you the surface and direction makes it almost as dodgy to us wimps as the drop!0 -

weirwolf drops update
yep theve definatly been playing with the drops, in fact that first drop that a lot of people have problems with is more of a rocky slope now, its still a steep slope but i think more managable.
as to the chicken runs. its been brashed off. so there is now no chicken run, but the new slope on the drop is easier to walk down, you can even use the rocks as steps
heres the picys

i think i might have found my new favourite tyres
fat albert 2.35 snakeskin - front
nobby nick 2.25 snakeskin -rear
only took them on a small test ride today but so far there riding great
nice light weight to them, i got up the first hill in middlering without much problem at all
not the fastest rolling, but grippy
nice and large. the front one is has a really nice volume to it and floats over stuff really well a bit like the eskar does (one of my favourite features of the eskar)what are brakes for again0 -
