I'm getting the hang of creating 'routes' with the Garmin MapSource.
So far I've been using my village as start/finsh targets, but is it possible to actually find my house?
Like the 'home' setting in the 705 itself.

I use a running version Forerunner 305, as I don't really need maps often. I got the cadence sensor with it (about 12 months ago) but only got round to fitting it this week - new bike that I didn't want to clutter up. I have to say the unit is a bit bulky and I'm a little bit worried about knocking it into my wheel - with the sensor arm sticking out. Anyone had any problems after knocking the cadence sensor?

That said I've used it on the turbo and had no problems at all.

If anyone wants to log their training online http://www.runsaturday.com is an excellent website. I use RS and SportTracks, RS being an online back up of the ST log.

I have just bought a FR305, all I can afford, but am wondering how to get the best out of it tips please. Also I like the mapmyride site but it looks like run saturday is samething but free... have you used both?

Interesting point re: Cadense Sensor as when we fittend mine on i did think 'what if it hits my spokes, but you have a screw to tighten it and the arm can come up as high or as low as you like, so when you have it in a position you are comfortable with and confident it wont knock the sensor/wheel, then tighten the screw and it should be fine!

But its only cable tied to the bike so could rotate into the wheel if its knocked.
    More problems but still living....

If the cable ties are put on properly it would take quite a strong knock to move it. You'd have probably already fallen off the bike, to inflict that sort of damage.
Nobody makes much fuss over front wheel speed sensors, which pose a much scarier scenario...

  • Still tempted. Still can't justify the cost. So I think it will be the 605 if I can get it for £200.

 Glad I don't need one, then!
They must have a really flimsy method of attaching them to the stay.

to be fair, that was only twice since I've had them since 2007, so not really an issue :) and it was riding through all conditions, since I've adopted checking the cable ties every month or so, not been an issue

  • Ok, I have Map source/Cit Navigator Europe installed but how do i send the map of UK or France or wherever to my Garmin ?
  • IGNORE LASTPOST - I've transferred maps.
However, when i go to 'Where to', then 'find places', and then it takes me to the page which says:

    ENTER NUMBER
    ENTER STREET NAME
    ENTER CITY

    It says below 'none found'.

so if i click into 'street name' and write a street name it STILL says none found.
    WHY would that be?

Can you ask it to take you to a postcode?
