BB7 road callipers at CRC with 20% off, albeit with no rotor.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

The CRC private sale isn't as cheap as it seems, they're selling FSA Orbit MX Headset for £36 which you can buy from Planet-X for £20.

You're not wrong. I spotted a 9 speed MTB cassette for about £19 at 60%ish off and thought maybe worth a punt. Then I googled it and found it easily obtainable for £3 less!

Still, lots of good stuff even so.

This is a very good buy; it includes the HRM and cadence which are probably about £50 alone as accessories. The funny thing here is that for £6 extra, Cyclestore will sell you the same Bryton 35 without the HRM and cadence

You used to have to upload to the Bryton website and exports were impossible but that's all changed. Now you can just export the gpx files too and from the unit to a folder in your computer quite easily. It drops them all automatically into a folder for the upload date and from there you can upload them wherever you like.

The 35 is pretty similar to a 500 (I think each have minor pros and cons against each other) and a lot better than a 200. If you haven't got the HRM and Cadence kit already, the above link is a really good buy.

The bryton web app has had a revamp, you can now push directly to Strava once your rides have uploaded from the GPS unit.

Does anyone understand what is the functional difference between the rider35 and rider40?

I'm quite happy with rider40 so far. The Garmin 200 seems rather over priced in comparison.

Not much and what there is is a bit contrived. Basically, it's the same piece of electronics but they have left the 35 out of some of the developments. The 40 gets a set of pre-programmed workouts but you can devise similar for the 35. The navigating is handled better on the 40 but neither are perfect yet. Otherwise, the main difference I can see is the pause function which is missing from the 35.

The case is a much better design on the 40 though. Smaller and neater and the buttons are probably more durable. After a couple of years of daily commuting the rubber has decayed a bit on my 30 (the earlier version of the 35) but it is still going strong - I've covered over the buttons with insulation tape to protect them (I'm not sure if this is the fault of the unit or a pair of sealskin gloves with an irritatingly rough thumb surface (that has also scratched up my glasses.....). Either way, the 40 has conventional buttons which I prefer. Possibly the buttons on the 35 are better than those on the 30 anyway but both are still great units.

For £90, if you take off the value of the HRM and Cadence, you are paying only about double the price of a half decent conventional computer that doesn't have half the flexibility of the Bryton.

My pleasure - can I please ask what your approx weight, height, chest, waist measurements are?
I usually buy small in most things, just the size guides, and assuming you are going for a small I would be interested to see if I might be able to get away with it.....

If only I could quadruple my budget and get a new set of wheels to fit them to....
Does anyone regularly change tyres for the conditions - 4000S for midweek, Paves for wet weekends, Corsa for dry? Seems (very) excessive.....

£71.96 from Ribble. Although marked as r500s. I've got 'em and they're fine, although I've somehow managed to dent my rear rim a bit. Tempted to get another pair...

I already have some very adequate wheels (Ugo kindly rebuilt the rear on an ambrosio rim), but if I am having some 70 quid tyres, at least I want some nice wheels to warrant their purchase. Guess I'll stick to the Open Corsa Evo CX's

Yep got a pair from Ribble last year for about that, really pleased that such a cheap set of wheels seem to make perfect commuting and occasional CX duties without a hitch.

Bagged a pair late last year from Ribble for my gf for £64 delivered from Ribble, insane bargain when a new freewheel from the LBS is something like £24, bonkers value!

the r500/1 are a great pair of budget wheels, I had them on my Carrera.

No good to me now though as I only have the Focus with Discs and will be looking to get a fixie and another CX bike in the future.
