Great price, bought a pair of the camo version in 2019, which are fine besides the walking platforms showing some wear these days.andyrr said:DHB carbon-soled shoes, £30 - https://www.wiggle.com/p/dhb-dorica-carbon-road-shoe?euShoeSizes=EU+43
The big unknown with this deal is will the shoes you receive not have the cleat bolt QC issue? Read the reviews, loads have had problems in the last year or so.

Yep spotted that about the cleat mounting points, quite off putting.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

I bought the Aeron Lab versions for £40 in the same sale. They are lovely shoes but I had to be soooo careful with installing the cleats, torque wrenched to 4nm!
I think the mounting plate is made of aluminium, or possibly cheese. Used them a couple of times on the turbo and all holding firm, but before I go too mad riding outside I'm going to see if I can take the footbed out and make a replacement.
If I can crack that, then I'm up for a second pair in white, and possibly those lace carbon ones too...1 -
Tempted to get a pair just in case I need more shoes in the cupboard. Got a pair of lovely silvery Fizik R3s that I got cheap ages ago and have never even had cleats on.
I’m a 9/9.5, prob generally closer to 9 so wonder if a 9 in these DHBs would probably be the size to try?0 -
Back in 2019, I bought size 43, based on ~27.5cm foot length. Possibly could have bought 42s, but doubt that would work with thicker socks.andyrr said:Tempted to get a pair just in case I need more shoes in the cupboard. They come up big. 43 in other cycling shoes (one of which is a set of Fizik R3s), 42 in DHB.0
-
Cheers for that, pondering a purchase now …0

I can confirm the mounts are made of cheese, but reasonably easily swopped them out and my12 year old is happily abusing thrm0

You can get 10% off all the DHB shoes till sunday with code CLOTHING10, bringing the lace carbon Doricas to £27 and the considerably posher Aeron Labs to £36.1
-
Those lab ones might be better spec but could be a bit sweaty and i think suffer from the same QC issues.0

Just got a Bell cycle helmet in Wiggle for under £8 in clearance0

Merlin has Continental GP5000 S TR @ £54.95
25mm, 28mm & 30mm
I like to buy a spare one the cheap rather than need one and pay full whack if there's no deals about.

On a general savings tip, I've seen people mention Quickco for cash back, also worth noting a lot of the same stores can be used to earn BA Airmiles through their Avios portal.
Wiggle, Tredz, Chain Reaction, Merlin, Decathlon, Le Col, SiS, Evans, Dare2B, Condor, CycleStore, ProBike Kit.
Buy enough kit and get you Mallorca flight free 😅0 -

I assume that's the V1, which is pretty much the same as the V2 which is the same as the Zwift Hub selling for more than twice the price.0
-
Yeah, even though it's nowhere near cutting edge, it'll be a big improvement from my wheel-on Tacx Vortex for the equivalent of 4 months gym membership. That's winter sorted.0
-
It's an absolute bargain. The Zwift one was a disruptor last year at the price they are charging, and you're basically getting that for the price of a wheel on smart trainer.commuterlegs said:Yeah, even though it's nowhere near cutting edge, it'll be a big improvement from my wheel-on Tacx Vortex for the equivalent of 4 months gym membership. SportsDirect though. When your money has gone, it's gone. Exchange or credit note only. You might stand a better chance if it's actually faulty, but don't count on it.1

Agreed, I wouldn't buy anything from SD personally for a number of reasons.me-109 said:SportsDirect though. When your money has gone, it's gone. Exchange or credit note only. You might stand a better chance if it's actually faulty, but don't count on it.
I know instore purchases they will only grant credit notes for, but I suspect due to distance selling regulations you would still be entitled to a refund - worth checking up on though.
Don't forget the man also owns Evans.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Yeah, I try to never buy anything from SD or Evans due to the Ashley connection but sometimes the bargain is too good. Most of what they sell is tat though.0

I see that (unsurprisingly probably) Evans Cycles as well as Sports Direct are currently selling the Volt for £209 - wonder if, since the parent company is one and the same, if buying from either makes any difference when it comes to dealing with any post-purchase issues?0

House of Fraser are as well.andyrr said:I see that (unsurprisingly probably) Evans Cycles as well as Sports Direct are currently selling the Volt for £209 - wonder if, since the parent company is one and the same, if buying from either makes any difference when it comes to dealing with any post-purchase issues?

Chain Reaction got Wahoo Kickr on for £499 at the moment.1

As part of their summer sales, wiggle has quite a few Ale jerseys at 30%, if you're interested in some of their.... bold... designs. The PRR one I got is quite race fit, more so than the Castelli Gabbas I have.1

Snagged one of the Jet Black Volts at Sports Direct - too much of a bargain to ignore, hopefully no issues that require their involvement.0
-
A quickie re these turbos - I’ll be Zwift or similar on iPad or windows laptop, I an ant+ adaptor required or is a Bluetooth connection fine? I’m totally unfamiliar with smart trainers hence the dumb question re what I’ve just purchased!andyrr said:Snagged one of the Jet Black Volts at Sports Direct - too much of a bargain to ignore, hopefully no issues that require their involvement.

Also, I think if you have an hr monitor that is ant+ only, it can rebroadcast that on Bluetooth.0
