Don't get your hopes up... ...is it just me, or are there hardly any decent bargains around this year? I've got a new bike coming April-ish and I thought January would be the time to look for all the bits and pieces I'd like to treat it to... and there's a whole lot of not a lot :(

I guess it's a combination of retailers selling lots of stuff through last year, and expecting people will still buy most stuff at full price for the next while, at least?

    Demand is up.
Competition from the vast majoritybof Europe has vanished. With the increased postage costs, plus import duty, administration fee AND a final additional delivery charge in some instances, your amount paid looks to jump by approx 30-45%, simply not viable, and let's not even talk about warranty replacements.

So much less competition for all the uk sites niw, they pretty much have a captive audience. If we want it, they charge it, we pay it.

Additionally most kit, even stuff like galibier, and maybe lusso will be made from fabrics likely sourced, or maybe made (lusso made here I think) in the EU, so even those prices will be going up.

I genuinely think we are pretty screwed for decent choice (and any bargains) now, but I have to say, all my bargain hunting over the years is now going to pay dividends, as I don't 'need' to buy anything for probably 10 years if I'm being honest.

How many hours of therapy did it take you to be able to admit that?! 😉

Ibuprofen is in short supply here which for me is a nightmare as my suspected bruised coccyx is fractured do we not make that drug in the UK?

We may well do, but the raw materials may come from the EU.

I too feel there are no bargains but having said that I recently bought some Campy Eurus wheels for about 40% off and then a Caad 13 with 32% off so not all doom and gloom and the best bit is the Caad is just awesome.

Some good deals as usual in the Pactimo sale. There are some cracking prices for the gloves: I have 3 different pairs from them which are all spot on.

Just scored some open paves for £25 a pop. Bargains few and far between. Madison have cornered the market and everything looks to be full retail.

I have some pactimo jerseys in size small, which is the smallest they do, and I find them a little bit relaxed.
If I want really fitted in Castelli I go for xs, but imho I would say Pactimo S is very similar to Castelli S, maybe a fraction larger.

I usually take large in Castelli, medium in Rapha and most other stuff. I would say the sizing is more towards Castelli but slightly more relaxed. The aero stuff is obviously tighter fitting than their other designs.

Oh, and their shorts and tights are brilliant, my absolute faves. Especially good if you're tall as the long leg options on the shorts are properly long.

To add to my previous comment, you'll find they're extremely helpful if you email for sizing advice. A girl called Mandy seems to handle all the UK enquiries and she's always quick to respond.

  • Is it just me that has noticed lower Specialized road bike model prices become more competitive over the last ~11 months?

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-Allez-E5-Elite-2021-Road-Bike_220163.htm grey and satin variant ~£1049... green and the black/blue variants are £1249

4% cashback at Topcashback too, almost making this mostly 105 (but dodgy Praxis chainset?) rim brake bike a rare sub £1k in these crazy times.

@daniel_b Didn't you get one of these a year or so ago?

Hey @N0bodyOfTheGoat yep (Good memory!) was December 2019, and it was £1050 back then, and I got in on the C2W scheme.
Was the best value I could get at the time with the then limit on my voucher.

I wonder if they have canned it - I saw a £5 off for signing up to their newsletter thing, I have a feeling it may have bitten the dust :-(

Sadly, buying an n+1 is not likely at all for me at the mo, I was just posting the deal and thought (and amazingly I was correct) that you bought one before the pandemic started.

The £5 newsletter offer popped up for me and worked fine.

Great spot with the exposure tracer. Already have one which is still going strong after a few years but at this price it's a bargain.

Always hesitant when ordering from Tredz after past order issues but selected the free delivery and fair play to them, its arrived today. 😀

couple of well thought of rear lights at decent prices..the exposure is £27 with the ubiquitous £5 off pop up code at tredz...saw these mentioned on hukd

Good spot, I run Moon lights across a couple bikes and have been wanting to try a Nebular for a while.
  • As some of you may have spotted, Halfords have come up with a few old Boardman models over the past year. While browsing this morning, I came across the ~7.5Kg 2014 TK Pro in various sizes, 48/15 gearing and it comes with rim brakes so it could also be legally be used on the road... £500 before using your BC discount card. There's also 57.5cm Team Carbon 2014, can't find geo charts but presumably that's the seat tube so it's for giants, going for £800.

Even as someone who vowed to never ride rim brake bikes again after my RTA just over seven years ago, that track bike deal is tempting in this current world of Covid bike price madness.
