~0.8Kg lighter than my hydraulic 505 disc brake version, Ultegra drivetrain (step up from the 105 that comes on disc version), surprised that Aksium wheelsets come in at ~1880g (very similar to the Fulcrum Racing 77 DBs)... But makes sub 8Kg very doable with some nice wheels.================

I see your point. However, how poor is the finishing kit when compared to my aluminium Defy 2? Heavy wheels? check. Tektro brakes? Check. It's true that I've replaced those already, as well as the saddle, but it's not like I'd be comparing with a super-nice ride, and in all likelihood I'd carry my saddle with me.
In the UK, I'd just go second hand, but what I've seen in Spain is crazy expensive. I've been recommended Free Motion, but those are too nice, as I'd like to keep costs under £500 if possible. But this should go to rod buying advice, anyway.
Decathlon apparently.
Yep btwin from Decathlon and if the local euro rate is more than GBP ask if you can deliver to store in Spain, dont ask dont get rightRule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.

Current prices for the triban 540 are £650 in the UK and €699 in Spain (£615 at today's rate). That's more than the Vitus + new Aksiums. Darn.
Will keep looking... maybe a TCR will appear heavily discounted, and make N+1 (then -1) a reality. N+1 is always the answer, right?0 -
Apologies if this has been posed before, but does this seem ridiculously cheap?

The wheels they knock out for £70 a pop, the groupset is 1x11 which isn't inherently bad but is a bit cheaper and limiting if you want to go 2x11.
So yeah, it's not a bad deal exactly, but certainly not a great one either.
If you want a wet commuter it'll certainly do the job, and switching to your race bike you'll feel like you're flying.0 -
Lifeline Ara front light for £60 - is it any good though?
Or would a Cateye Volt 1200 for ~£80 be better
(yes I need to replace my 4yo Cateye Nanoshot+ due to an aging battery)0 -

As TW said it not so many words AVOID
its so crap they couldnt even be arsed to post an actual picture of the bike you'd end up with, that one in the link has Shimano something shifters with mech disc brakes and what looks like no rear gear cable, rather than the listed SRAM 1x11 with discs, thats just lazy and should be accepted. Who’s had the Planet-X email ref postage payment request for the bottles :twisted:0
-
-
I've had the email and no I do not wish to pay the £3.95 postage so it looks like order cancelled.0
-
Yeah, asked for a refund. Not a surprise after it took them so long to ship to be honest, they're usually very quick posting.0
-
Yep, just had that email too. Grrrrr.0
-
Yep, received it as well, have asked if I can pay in loose change,If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0

Yep! Grrrrr!
Ditto. Grrr, Grrr, Grrr.
As I'd bought 3 I'm tempted to pay the 3.95, but only slightly. Think i'll cancel.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Hmmm - I just got the email but they have taken the original money for the order. I thought you didnt have a binding contract until they took your money but at that point they had to honour it?0

Quite impressive, PX promotes £1 bargain tool bottle on 11th with free postage if only thing in basket, takes until 16th to e-mail purchasers that there was an error regarding free postage.
And there was me the last few days thinking I had missed a genuinely useful bargain!
I finally got around to trying to install a PX fatbike compatible disc pannier set I bought from them last year sometime, went to adjust the support length to the mount near the rear hub and it sheared through the screw thread while tightening at way less than 4nM torque.================

Apologies about the Planet X debacle, I genuinely thought it was a good deal at first. I bought a few bits, but that's because I needed a helmet for my Grandson mostly.Superstition sets the whole world in flames; philosophy quenches them.

I made two seperate orders for the £1 Carnac bottle things but only one email and replied saying I expect the order to be fulfilled and also raised a case with Paypal on the two transactions saying I've already had the funds taken for the orders.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

I sent a reply saying I don't have a paypal account
Confusion abounds at PlanetX towers methinks0 -
I think they're scrabbling to send out these collection emails and forgetting that they are overlapping with the automatic emails that go out for an order.
I sent an unimpressed reply yesterday accusing them of a bait and switch. No response yet!- Genesis Croix de Fer

For anyone confused about their rights regarding orders placed with Planet X, the T&Cs you agreed to do state;
"You will then receive confirmation of your order - this confirms we have received your order, but it does not indicate a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order by sending you an invoice - this is the contract between us. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, for example if we have inadvertently under-priced a product, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the revised price is acceptable to you."0
