If you've been collecting Tesco points you might be excited to learn that they now pay out 3x value on Evans cycles, up from the 2x it has been for a while.

Of course, if you had your eye on one of the brands that paid out 4x which now pay out 3x you might be less excited, but I only ever use mine for bike stuff :-)
  • For Goodness Shakes £1.10 at Sainsbury's down from £2.20.

The protein ones also appear to be reduced.

Did anyone get the £15 worth of "free" stuff from SIS as part of their BC Membership?

You had to pay £5 for postage unless you ordered a minimum amount, so I ordered another endurance pack and some electrolyte tabs to get me to the threshold. I then qualified for another offer (the £15 of free stuff counted towards it) that meant I got a free protein shaker bottle thing (which i'll probably never use).

I don't often use specialist gels/bars, dehydration packs etc apart from the tabs, but always like a "freebie". I've few sportives and mountain rides coming up, so they might come in useful.

    STOP!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Vastly different business model now they are under new management by the looks of it.

    Stock of sizes:
    Small - 167
    Medium - 398
    Large - 453

Shift that little lot, as I have no doubt they will, and that's 65K in the bank.

  • It's all obsolete stock as the Classic Shorts II have been out for some time now. The sooner they get rid of it, the sooner people will pay full whack for the new stuff.

Don't think the business model has much changed - they often shifted loads of stuff when a new line came out.

Am more tempted by the PT Thermal bibs now down to £117

So, are they worth it at that price? Are they decent shorts, I don't own any Rapha stuff so have no idea about real quality (vs. perceived).

  • I have the PT shorts and really like them, but they aren't cheap.

My good friend has a pair and wears them nearly every ride and they are still going strong after 6 years.

Highly recommended. I may get a pair as well.

Lad, two pairs ordered. £54 each with 15% off code.

PS: My old classics are 4 years old and have taken a full on beating, and still like new apart from Rapha decals cracking / flaking a bit.

IF you are asking about the Classic shorts - I don't have a pair personally, but most things I have bought from Rapha seem to be excellent quality, and the reviews both online, and on their site seem to support that.
For £64, I think you would struggle to do better - maybe LP shorts when they were available for £48, but that's all that springs to mind.
    Free returns too.

*Are the 15% off codes just for new customers, has anyone cheated and simply registered a new e-mail address and obtained a code that way?
Presumably you Ryan have shopped with them before?

I've ordered two pairs! No idea about Rapha sizing though, so the free returns might be very handy.

Was thinking this morning that I really don't spend a great deal on cycling clothing, especially considering the amount of time I spend on the bike.

The Classic bibs are quite generous I'd say, maybe size down from usual.

I have Rapha Core and Lightweights in large but when I went to the archive store I tried some Classics on in large but found them a bit big, they didn't have medium to compare.

Hahaha!!! Ah yes, the "loyal" customer. I work in retail and customers do this all the time!!! Don't worry, we think you are an ambitious bunch. We admire the effort you go into to purchase the products, so we don't cancel your orders (even thought it's not allowed in our Ts&C's), and adjust our reporting accordingly. :D

Yeah my favourite shorts are Rapha and I've had top of the range stuff from the likes of Castelli. However I will say that they have changed the Pad slightly in the last couple of years and I preferred the older pad, however I doubt you'll get any better for £64.

Just register for the newsletter and you get a 15% code through instantly. I used my wife’s email address then code for my order earlier in the week. I’ve used a couple of my own email addresses before.

I just stuck them in the basket - then typed over the value to 500 or something, click update i think it is, and it drops down to the max they have in stock.

I’ve owned one of these for over 4 years (the blue version) and have just used a voucher present from my kids to buy the orange one for my current (short) commute.

I can’t recommend these highly enough - very well though-out, reflective features (including stowable bum flap) and, before I got my Gore One, the benchmark of waterproof and breathable. I got caught in a cloudburst in Amsterdam on my way to the airport. I had water squelching out of my shoes but my top half was bone dry. If you commute in “civvies”, this is the jacket for you.

This is down to £88 now - all be it the biggest size is small - IF you can bag a 15% code, that's sub £75 for a jacket with an RRP of £220.

    Halogen bulbs? How quaint :D
I bought a load of the bonehead lights when they were 50p, they last for months of commuting on flashing mode.
