If it's of any comfort whatsoever, they were out of stock in all sizes last night at 9pm when I was ordering winter tyres.

Oh, and for those of you who've bought Smart lights from Planet-X might like to look at this cheap Sony charger & pair of AAA batteries for £3.49. Already have one from earlier, but ordered another.

Am I reading the bundle deal correctly? If you go for the screwdriver set as well it is another £22 cheaper?

Got mine earlier in the week, and am also impressed with how they look.

Size 45 seems to be alright for me (usually a 44). Just need the extra cleats now!

  • The adult helmets in Lidl are surprisingly good for £9.99.

They include a built in multimode red LED rear flasher, have a lining which can be removed for washing and look great in white.

I went to buy the panniers but they were huge and came away with the helmet and some socks.

The overall quality seems to have improved from previous years and unless you're a badge snob the range offers incredible VFM.

If anyone's after a bike, even a donor bike for parts alone, it might be worth checking out your local Halfords.

Mine had a couple of Voodoo Limba CX bikes for £700, after being reduced to £799 for months, from an original price of around a grand (I think). It's got carbon seatstays, carbon forks, 105 drivetrain, raceface finishing kit. If anyone can buy Halfords vouchers at 10% off(I know NHS staff can) it could be yours for £630, an absolute steal.

Also, a Boardman womens Hybrid Pro with some bits of upgraded spec (looked like it had been used to repair other bikes, then had the missing bits replaced with better stuff, lock on grips , WCS wet black bars and stem) a GT i-Drive for £700 (SLX, Recons, Fox air can, not really a commuter), and numerous GT hardtails.

Last years Carrera road bikes are also reduced to clear.

+1 for the helmets - the LED is a nice touch for winter, esp at this price
They're also doing the 3M Scotchlite spoke reflectors for a fiver,
an invaluable weapon in the winter commuters' visibilty armory..
