Sportpursuit have a load of autumn cycling stuff on at the moment. I almost bought some Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier tights for £50 but then remembered I've got a couple of pairs of winter tights already. Got the Lobster gloves instead. They've also got Kask helmets, loads of other gloves and some team kit, if that's your thing. Referal link here, or just go to sportpursuit.com
Sorely tempted by the bibs, but I'm not 100% convinced this version has a pad.0 -

I appreciate the negative views on Mavic, and the potential for issues with them coming from Germany, but given the saving I have decided it is worth the comparitive gamble - I'm generally pretty light on my wheels, and as I have several bikes mileage is not going to be stellar, so hopefully there will be no issues.
Placed the order tonight, once I have confirmation will cancel the Zondas.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
Marin Palisades Trail 91 and 06
Scott CR1 SL 12
Cannondale Synapse Adventure 15 & 16 Di2

A-ha - thanks! This one looks a billy bargain.Ian.B wrote:Can't help with the link you mention, but there was a good article in the CTC magazine about dynamo hubs not so long ago, here:

I bought the DH3N-80/Mavic A319 rim a few weeks ago from Rose Bikes (and posted on here) - better value than you'll get anywhere in the UK. Only issue would be if you want to run < 28mm tyres as the rims for 28mm and above.
Can't say it feels noticibly lighter than the Spa cycles DH3N-72 that I bought a few years ago, but it is £50 cheaper and shinier. Will get round to replacing the rim on the DH3N-72 so I'll have two winter bikes (fixed and geared) with dynamo hubs.0 -
What lights do you run with these dynamo hubs..."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."
PX Kaffenback 2 = Work Horse
B-Twin Alur 700 = Sundays and Hills0 -
Just out of interest, why would anyone use a dynamo hub anymore? Front lights are cheap, powerful, easy to recharge and light.0

Had a message back from Sportpursuit to say that they are the unpadded version, which I don't fancy. Shame!0 -
I've got one of these:
http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/b--m ... aid:457434
Which is excellent - daylight running lights, Standlight, auto on/off. Great spread of light and more than enough for unlit country lanes without blinding oncoming traffic.
And also one of these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dynamo-Front-Li ... B0043SK92E
Which is pretty poor - no standlight, almost acts like a strobe light until you get to 10-12 miles per hour, so it's very much to be seen with rather than to light up the road ahead. It's only used round the city so that's OK for me.0 -

Vittoria Rubino Pro Slicks - a PAIR for £27.50 at Merlin (less than half price).
I've not tried the slicks but the standard (slightly waffle patterned at the edges - why?) tyres are my commuting (and pretty much everything else) favourites and the best price for these is usually around £34 a pair.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

All year round commuting tyres? And are these basically the same? Looking to try an alternative to the Durano S that doesn't leave a trail of casing cord behind it.........Faster than a tent.......0 -

Yes - all year. The Pros I use almost never puncture (except big shards of bottle glass). I've never really understood why the slicks are more expensive.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

Thanks for the info MRS. Tyres duly ordered! The Schwalbes have a good mileage left in them I think but I always like a spare set to hand. I just hope they are a larger diameter than the Vittoria Open Corsas I have which are impossible to put on Campag Neutrons (due to the shallow rim depth).Faster than a tent.......0 -
Done just over 2000 miles on my Rubino Pros on all sorts of crappy surfaces and am yet to have a puncture.strava - http://app.strava.com/athletes/1217847

+1 On that. 1000 miles minimum on Rubino Pros, only puncture due to a four inch nail.0
