Anyone seen any deals on bib Shorts. looking at around the £50 mark if possible.
Sportpursuit have some Pearl Izumi bib shorts at the moment. Scroll down the list as they're not at the top. Here's my referral link. Yes I get some credit. Remind me and I'll buy you a beer at the Morpeth :)

It'll be mid-winter by the time you get them so a hot toddy might be more appropriate :wink::D

never sure about Sport Pursuit either....

Anyone used the PX roubaix bibs @ £15 (no pad, but I have some shorts that I have, that I can use)
I've got a fair bit of stuff from them, no worries on that score though as MRS says, delivery time is weeks not days. PX stuff is usually cheap for a reason, the stuff I've had from them (overshoes and gloves from their own brand) hasn't been great and has generally worn out before the season has. I bought some cheap Nalini shorts from them a while ago, I wore them twice and then binned them as they were so cr@p. Buy cheap, buy twice and all that.
    FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.
  • Some of their stuff is good - been very happy with their jerseys and at one point they were doing a full zip jersey with three pockets and a zipped key pocket for £9.99 this year. Their merino kit is also excellent - the merino jersey is a winter staple for me and I bought a merino jacket in the sale earlier this year which looks great for cooler days this year.

As above, I haven't been as happy with their overshoes and gloves although I did get a windproof pair that have held up well. I'll check out the bib tights next time I'm in but my experience with any sort of shorts or tights that you definitely do get what you pay for, they seem to be hard to do well on the cheap.

I have a pair of these, been very happy with them. Warm enough for pretty much any conditions I ahev experienced and as you can just wear them over your normal shorts you don't need to wash them every night and can get away with just a couple of pairs. £15 a steal - might get some more...
  • Had loads of ski stuff off Sport Pursuit, never any problems and dead easy to return stuff you don't want

nuun's are back as buy one get one free at wiggle.

Are these actually better than the High 5s? The CRC offer gets you 20 tablets for £3.49. The Wiggle one gets you 24 for £5.69 - so quite a bit more expensive.
In my opinion high 5 are much better.I find the nuun ones really dry my mouth and throat out.never had that issue with the high 5.

An even more bargainacious variation on the theme. Probikekit are selling tubes of 20 SIS tablets (which worked well enough for me) with bogof for £6.99 - and they chuck in a lurid yellow bottle for nowt!

Looks quite like a Holux, I had one for a while, until it drowned. For roughly the same price, though, you could get what I've used for the last 18 months or so:

    http://r2-bike.com/O-Synce-Navi2move-GPS_1

Works really well, logs very well and is very waterproof indeed.

I've got a Holux 245 which is kind of similar, it's pretty good. But I got a used Garmin 705 off a colleague so the Holux is now consigned to a drawer.
It worked well but was a bit of a faff as you had to upload the rides, then save them on to Strava manually. The Garmin does it automatically and has mapping. If anybody wants a cheap GPS cycle computer pm me, I've also got a couple of spare mounts.
I was going to give it to the boy but it would only encourage him to ride like more of a lunatic, he already SCR's to school. More importantly the EPO would work out I've got the Garmin.

A friend has just picked up a Felt Z95 from Winstanleys Bikes for £486.75. Not sure of how much a bargain it is but he's happy for his first road bike.

Certainly is. And you'll want something with a built in rear wheel lock (and another, different lock - apparently the bike thieves in Amsterdam tend to just get good with one kind of lock so using two makes a huge difference).

Or just go for something properly classy!

Yup - I'm very much resigned to spending more on locks than the bike! On the plus side, the bikes weigh so much that the extra weight of the locks is immaterial...
