    Me too. :(

Did either of you get a dispatched email? Received one today, not sure if that means they have dispatched the light or my refund :?

    Nope.

I got a response to my email. Basically due to no stock and faulty products. They are not getting any more in stock, but did give me a 10% discount voucher as a gesture of good will.

No just got the email saying they were refunding as the items were out of stock, plus a 10% off voucher.

That is quite the deal huh.

Alas nowhere near me has stock, and I understand the 10% discount only works instore, and as it's not in stock anywhere nearby I would have to pay online, and not be able to benefit - or have I got it wrong?

Just an update to this, it's still in clearance and if you use this code "B13BP20" then it takes 20% to bring it to £136 and you should be able to collect in store.

Can you do the 10% BC? I thought these items were paid online so you can't use the in-store discounts with this AFAIK.

Ooooh. Very tempted by that Mio 305!!

Anyone got one/can recommend it? I've been looking for a reasonably priced bike computer to replace my Halfords Bikehut jobbie.

Just to get this straight. I can do the 20% discount code on £170, to bring it to 136? And the BC thing presumably only applies to members does it?

Not exactly it's already 45% off which brings it down to £170, but there is right now £25 off over £100 £145 which is a total bargain. Not sure if you can get a further 10% off with BC memership or not.

Note battery life on long rides with Nav on is a bit rubbish. you'll get 7 to 8 hours...... Personally I'm starting to wish I brought a Garmin.... If you are used to a Garmin there are lots of things it doesn't do, a lap timer being one that I miss. Not being able to zoom in or out of altitude profile is a bit rubbish too you can only see the profile over the whole course and where you are on it, which is a bit naff if you want to focus on where you are on the current hill. Plus no direct interface with Strava you have to upload GPX instead which doesn't have things like Heart Rate data included. The nav can be hit and miss too as it seems to prefer cycle paths and back road to things like CS7. It does seem to lock onto satelites a bit quicker than my old Edge 305 did though....

Still £145 is almost worth it just for the speed and cadence senor and the HRM strap which are compatible with Garmin etc.

Edit: Just checked if you used the code it's 20% off but this replaces the £25 on over £100 so final price is £136, bargain.

So basically it's junk and you'd be better off buying something like a used Samsung Galaxy S2. No?

No it's not junk. It's a very good colour touch screen GPS bike computer with maps and nav, plus a HRM strap and Speed and Cadence Sensor for £136. If you have never used a Garmin then you'll love it. It's also waterproof, a nice design and easy mounting, bounces if dropped + no glass to crack, all of which would put it ahead of a used S2. Just don't buy it thinking it'll be as good as a Garmin 800, it's not. Then again a Garmin 800 would cost you £200 more.

Sketchley. That's really helpful. Thank you lots for taking the time to write a little review.

I'm still undecided. After 6 months on the road bike I'm pretty certain i'll be doing a lot more cycling, but i don't want to keep buying gear and then replacing it with better stuff all the time. Maybe i'd be better saving my money and then buying a Garmin 800 straight up at the start of next Summer.

Or is it better to have something than nothing for the next little while? The Bikehut compute seems to have stopped transmitting to the receiver, so I don't even have a speedo at the moment. In saying that, Strava says I'm getting faster!

Good stuff Sketchley - puts it into perspective.

Corriebee - a quick look on fleabay suggests that you should make a small profit in the event that you buy now and decide to sell it on and upgrade later.
  • I am after a new Kask Mojito, they're the same price everywhere so I think i'll use a LBS to spread the monetary love, however has anyone seen a discount for orders over £100 or similar?

Seriously, get a Garmin. They're simply the best out there right now. Yes you'll save some £££ with this but its worth the extra. I'm sure you can find a deal on an 800 (full navigation, colour screen etc) now that the 810 is out. Get it without the maps (use Open Street maps) and you can save loads.

Edit: Garmin 800 for £188.40 at Handtec

Tempted as I have a garmin HRM strap (and Mio one too). Plus I'm fairly certain a Mio Cadence and Speed sensor will work with Garmin as it's all Ant+. Anyone able to confirm this?

Either way anyone want to buy a Mio305UK, I can include (or not) 2 Speed and Cadence Senors, a carry Case, 3 mounts (maybe 4) and a HRM strap. Boxed and everything, make an offer. Might just put it ebay with a resever and see whay happens....

hmm nearly pressed the button on the 800! Anyone used handtec before? For £64 more (inc vat) I could go up to the 810 worth it? Would I regret not getting the 810 if I only got the 800......

Lots of people here and elsewhere on forums have used Handtec, as they are consistently the cheapest. Not heard any scare stories but I would guess customer service is not as responsive as places like Amazon. I would buy from them without hesitation if it were me.

I am sure that I read the latest firmware for the 810 has problems and people have reverted back to an older version. There do seem to be some teething issues, which will probably be sorted in time, the 800 had the same issue but has now worked through them and seems stable.

The 810 offers little that would interest me - a slightly refreshed interface which seems just as unintuitive as the one on the 800 (just different), wireless sending of stuff to Garmin Connect (although you still need to plug it in to recharge which makes it seem kinda pointless to me) and live tracking of your location (if you want to drain your Garmin and the battery of the phone you connect it through to keep sending via 3G).

From what I've heard from people that have the 810 there's no real benefit over the 800.

Yes, you would regret not getting the 810.

the only selling point of the 810 over the 800 is the fact that you can finally set up different pages of info depending on what type of ride you are doing.

for someone that does multiple types of riding eg:
    commuting
    time trial loop
    time trial laps
    training

it makes a world of difference. it also makes selecting which bike im riding very easy unlike the 800.

all in all you might as well get the 810...

So began the hunt for a new light and noticed this on Halfords:

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165636

With their current discount it works out at £78.99, which seems like a decent price for the 4-cell version, especially when they have the 2-cell version at the same price.

Not sure what the 810 is like, but on the 800 you just do (with the unit on):

    [*]Press power button once
[*]Tap the name of the bike
    [*]Select the bike you want

    Not exactly difficult?

Doesn't look hugely different to the eBay/dealextreme Cree ones at £20-£30. Crazy bright & no shaped beam - great for off-road night rides; overkill for unlit roads.
