Agree DH trails were nice, it's shame people tend to crash on easiest and bizzare spots. Shame I couldn't film you lot crashing around. DKenny, wish you a speedy recovery. Proper DH Cowboy!
Alan showed a true class to many of us, battered 10year old P2 outrode many DH bikes, WTF? Need to groom up Bungalustic to challenge and hopefully shame that P2 rider.
I like the 4x , this gives me an idea of speed needed.

Welcome to the owowowowow club DK.
Glad I decided to rest today from the sound of it. Mine are a bit tender after yesterday, but getting better all the time.
Planning a bit of Swinley tomorrow, early afternoon if anyone's around.I don't do smileys.

Though myself I don't even get 1mm of air to even do it right or wrong. I just roll it Very Happy.
Wouldn't worry about it, I barely left the ground the entire day. Luckily there's no photographic evidence of it0 -
Ohh, DKenny you posted that awful picture of me attempting a jump. The other pimp one is rather good.
I started to feel all muscle pain now, when went to sleep my muscles started to seize. Wrists started to turn themselve and feet too, was an amazing sight of it, my wife first was a bit scared then just laughed at me -the Terminator/RoboCop. People, I need a tablet to stop all that weird magic! So bloody painfull that is.What could have been (Video)
I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though0 -
You getting enough salts after riding? Usually the main cause of cramps after a long day like we had.0

Everything aching at the moment myself, but that's from all the tumbles. Didn't feel the pain at the time. Maybe that's a good sign. Fall, get up, move on, pay for it the next day0 -
Looks like you had fun aye
Think I might go back this saturday for a few more attempts at some the of DH runs there, certainly need more skills over rooty sections.
Did you guys get asked for your passes while you were there, we booked online to get the cheaper fee but no one ever checked if we had done.0 -
same here for roots..
I think I ll be out on Saturday too. as I m off to Brands hatch on sunday.
we turned up with no pass, and had one girl come and check pass around 11 am.

It was a wicked session, slept like a baby last night and probably would have slept all the way to tomorrow if I didn't have work today.

My fave was Black run, and DH5 ... roots were eezz mode on skills compensator really, all I did was unweigh front wheel and keep pumping like that, plenty of speed and control came my way. It's kind of caress the top of a woman, while down there magic will happen. It's all bike magic, yeah baby just like that. What could have been (Video)

I think I need to fettle my forks and shock as the rooty bits rattled my bones. I'm up for a Sat AM run depending where we go.0

Hmm, the video of DH5 (4-2-3 apparently) looks nothing like the one we did, except the bit right at the bottom. The one in the video has longer flowing sections and far less of the extreme rooty twisty stuff I remember. Though you can't see from the videos how steep these are either. The black looks like a simple leisurely ride on the video

Though maybe my memory of it is clouded by visits to the ground0 -
Had a decent session at aston on the saturday, then ended up going back on sunday just to session it a bit more. Was good fun improving technique over the rooty sections on the hardtail, not always pleasant but satisfying when you get it right. Not sure if I saw you guys at the bottom of the red run, coasting the last section a bit confused by the demise of my gears!
Should be up for a session somewhere saturday morning too.0 -

Yep that was us, luckily that was going to be our last run anyway! Was a bit of an unplanned trip, pre-booked passes for the saturday and didn't need them, didn't bother booking on sunday and met teh warden. Cracking trails though so worth £7 to keep them maintained in my view, looking forward to returning with my ragley once it's built up.0 -
What was the silver framed bike BTW? It looked a lot like the Merlin Malt my wife has (not saying it's a girl's bike or anything)0
-
I should apologise to anyone else who was there if I was in the way on DH5 having tumbled a few times . Someone came shooting down after me and clipped my wheel, but lucky didn't come off!0

I've only been on an MTB for 2.5 months and I've only now found this forum. I have been cycling on road for the 2 years but I was missing the hills and so I'm trying to find others to improve my MTB skills with.
I have cycled in the Surrey Hills a few times, I'm off to the Brecons later this week on my own. I've been to Swinley and have the cuts and bruises from trying the more technical stuff.
I'm in SW London and looking for others of a similar standard to cycle with, I realise it's risky cycling on my own. I wouldn't ski off piste on my own and I shouldn't cycle the more technical tracks on my own.
Most of the clubs cater for MTB riders with good skill levels.
Is there anyone else in my neck of the woods who wants to discover the joy of MTB?0 -
i had a great 2hr ride last night in broxbourne/hertford woods. bmx today0
-
Joy, not sure. Tumbles we definitely do. The thread is mostly the same suspects arranging meets around the area you're interested in so if you keep an eye on this thread towards the end of each week, people will be arranging things and you'd be welcome to come along.0

On the subject of this weekend, I'm off to the Field Day Festival on Saturday so I'm only up for riding anywhere on Sunday (unless I get a sneaky 8am Swinley)0

Where in SW London all being well I shall be moving there in the nr future just need to check the place out ect and sort the move out. Then yes I would be, I'm a rookie too so it would make good sesnse as were both at the same skill level.0 -
Sorry I haven't been around in a while, had a family thing come up I'm staying with parents whilst thinsg sort themselves out.
However I' can cycle to Wendover woods from where I am so anyone up for some xc riding this week or next week? Any time is good for me as I'm on leave from work. Ashridge Forest isn't too far away either, I have heard there are some trials up there.
So anyone up for that? Would be more than riding alone, let me know.0 -
