I'll be honest, I still don't have a scooby where I'm going, Redlands would be good as there's some unfinished business there but I'm sure we can find somewhere that'll suit everyone. How does Popstar's suggestion below sound?

BKB for sharpness-harshness and YogPots for feeling headtube angles of that frame, there is not far away (literally to the right side) from YogPots steepish fast blast downhill too. Telegraph Road is for lil ladies but not testing the bike though. Those trails don't require some labouring climbs too, really rewarding sessioning down there. 1st part of Summer Lighting in 2 versions would give some good idea of how bike feels too, and thats Leith hill.

Who's in? Meet just after 10 at the Nirvana shop to give me time to get the bike off them

Sounds perfect, and I know Leith quite well now. Will they let you drive the Ragley from the shop or would you have to ride to Peaslake?

Don't see why not, they'll have my CC. Would Peaslake car park be better say half 10?

Bungalistic, you could join Jonni Li on Saturday at AH. He's with his gang hanging all day down there.

Have seen a guy testing Zesty on BKB and YogPots recently, and the man did take the bike from Nirvana. Taking wheels off and loading the bike into car then blasting off to Peaslake wouldn't make difference to rather riding bike across couple of hills. They do take your CC just for those kind of reasons I suppose.

Tempting, could try one with suspension this time  but I'm saving my cash for my Xmas present to myself.

    Guys

was reading the thread and saw that you are testing a bike out.

if that does not work out I would suggest looking in head for the hills in Dorking, better bike shop than Nirvana and for me better makes and far superior service, they even know how to smile in there.
I have not used Nirvana in 4 years due to pants service and servicing after buying a bike from there.

Anyone up for a ride Monday or wendesday next week in the day?

Always had good service at Nirvana. Far better than my LBS (although Freeborn is still my favourite; freeborn in Esher that is)

Great ride around SH, ended up being out for about 5 and a half hours, with about 20 minutes riding

Helter decided he really likes the Ragley MMMBop he was testing, even with pink disc rotors.

    Think so.

What was the deal with the transport in the end?

Can I still buy the thingy for Aston online? I take it you just print something out.

More my pace as a lazy ass. With Richard we'd be out and done in 20 minutes :D. Longer with Popstar as he sets up his shots :D

Good ride today, cheers to all for the guidance & advice.

The steel v aluminium argument goes round & round but for sure chuckability & speed alu wins hands down. Just need to get some padded shorts for those lazy sit down rides. Watch this space...

Have a good one tomorrow & will b riding wit u soon

Ticket booked for Aston. Made the mistake of putting today's date instead of tomorrow. Hope that won't be a problem.

9.30 then. Is there an obvious place to meet?

As for food facilities I note they say this:
Aston Hill Mountain bike club has a BBQ on site during the summer at the weekends. The very good Café in the Woods is over the road in Wendover Woods and provides a warm welcome whilst serving coffee, tea, hot and cold sandwiches, and cake.

If you’re partial to your ale, it’s worth noting that there are several very good micro breweries in the area, with Tring Brewery and the Chiltern Brewery springing to mind. A lot of tucked-away local pubs carry beer by at least one of these and they’re well worth a snifter. Using Aston Hill as a base, it’s very easy to put together a good XC route using the local rights of way to visit a few.

Well, had very busy day visiting friends in couple of places. Would have to buy ticket on-site, guess I am most sloppy one round here. Wouldn't even be able to print it out as my PC at Plaisir's and printer won't work on laptop or I-phone.

Helter, I am surprised you like more alu* version than steel ... guess there is a lot unfinished business and not just in Redlands.

Good day at Aston. Serious DH stuff that. Think most of us had the odd tumble. I seem to have picked up a new rib injury on that last attempt of DH5 (really not liking that one, though the black was okay, red was more fun though for my skills). I can join Cooldad now in the shouts of pain :D.

    Photos soon... ;)

Aston is great fun, though sleep is good to attack there...

the black isnt that hard , im surprised. i think its dh 5 i have a revenge to take with some stupid roots. and popstar bites the dust this time nice skid/drift in the berm.

infact plenty of riding for one day and more time to learn the trails and pick up speed.

good place , ill be back for more.

Ironically, the red run ended up being the most painful for me.

It was good fun riding with you guys. Looking forward to doing it again.

I say the hardest to ride was 4X from them all. Couldn't commit of getting all speed needed to clear tabletops. No see the exit of jump, no commitment from my camp. Really need to learn how to fly around.

Agree DH trails were nice, it's shame people tend to crash on easiest and bizzare spots. Shame I couldn't film you lot crashing around. DKenny, wish you a speedy recovery. Proper DH Cowboy!

Alan showed a true class to many of us, battered 10year old P2 outrode many DH bikes, WTF? Need to groom up Bungalustic to challenge and hopefully shame that P2 rider.
