Will be at Swinley at 10 tomorrow. Planning a small group around the Crowthorne bits, but not planning on riding the trail centre stuff.
Will be a very very social pace.
Leaving from carpark at the beginning of the blue.

Can you night ride at Swinley, does the car park get locked?

It gets locked coming in around 6.30 I think, but still opens automatically to let you out anytime. Not sure about the time though as I never drive up.
Gets asked here regularly, so no harm in asking again. https://www.facebook.com/groups/SwinleyforestMTB/

Someone asked again this morning, looks like it's 8.30 to get in, but you can get out anytime.

Sorry missed your post - yes that side of SH, just down from Dorking. Generally muddy and messy, good fun today.

    These rides open to all?

What route are you taking from Hughenden? I'm not far from Wycombe but never ride Hughenden way
  • While we wait for Cooldad I think it's changed to Sunday 12.30pm now. But yes, always open to all.

Big Al - open to all - if they let me ride they'll let anyone. No idea of the route as someone else is showing us around.
Was just promised "14 miles of fun, roots, dells, singletrack and some good climbs".

pm me if you like and I'll send you a phone no etc.

I can't make Sunday - have to take kids to football.

Would be nterested in your route from Hughenden though.

    Thanks

  • was it any good? I had to go to the in-laws for the day, so it was clearly better than that! But last time I was out in the Chilterns (long ago, trying to follow an MBUK route) it was isolated bits of good stuff surrounded by a whole lot of doubletrack. I daresay this was probably due to that route and there's more around there to discover. I do remember a hilarious damp grassy descent that I had to end by sticking the bike and myself into some bushes as the only other option was over a fence.

I ended up having a satnav fail and got totally lost and missed it, but by all accounts it was a decent ride.
So planning another one now that I know the way.

    Swinley Forest Christmas Rampage (haha)

Christmas ride leaving the pagoda at 10 am, pace will be social.
The route will take blue, red, crowthorne, red and blue. Bring drink, grub and whatever else.

Thirty odd people going so far, so should be easy to find.

    Santa suite optional.

    Weather looks suitably shitty.

Any rides over the festive period? I'm wondering if I might get a few hours escape from the newborn son if I'm lucky. And my latest shoulder injury is more or less healed now, could probably survive if I don't attempt anything too gnarly.

Very good. No one wore one anyway. Hasn't been much on the go, combo of weather and people away. Lots of trees down at Swinley and SH as well.

  • Crikey! Bloody good weather the last two days, shame it wouldn't be enough for things to recover from the storms that're now apparently returning anyway. But I've not managed any freedom yet either, so hey ho.
