Would love to join you, but work gets in the way unfortunately.

P.S. I see Whites is supposed to take between 1.5 and 3 hours. We spent the whole day on it! :D

Right, photos. Much posing and very little action. Hmm, they come out a bit darker on my monitor at work. Different calibration to my monitor at home.

So have we decided on the weekend plans, are we doing Redlands in the morning?

And is anyone up for a ride on monday somewhere, maybe esher or one of these smaller dh venues, like porc or aston hill.

I would be ready for Redlands/Leith hill ride if it's Sunday! Think it's a better day to do a group+film ride for many, I guess.

popstar, the wall was my local ride for a bit! cool trail but you should be able to get it done in 2-3 hours. used to be able to return to the car park and ride penhydd but i think that has just closed due to forestry work. but you'll enjoy the wall especially that final descent! just make sure you got plenty of meat in your brakes before you start it!!

are you just going there tommorrow or are you going to be there for the weekend? im heading home to swansea on fri via cwmcarn and hitting afan on sunday if your about?

    Hey all

(been hiding from distractions because of exams)

I know it's late - but I'm heading to Surrey Hills in the morning - starting from Holmbury St Mary probably. JUST in case anyone's skiving off from work :)

I've got my last exam on June 8th and was thinking of going to Aston Hill (or somewhere/anywhere!) next day - Weds 9th. Company welcome!

We only head there for 1 day with Plaisir, shame would want to ride some trails in Afan and Black graded -Raven trail- in Brechfa too.

It's nice to hear things from Stranger (aka Helter), you ought to be the one who's organising all rides and be present here long time ago!

I generally tend to bump contrast as the raw files out of the camera tend to be a bit flat, and went a bit excessive on the sky but looks great. The originals aren't far off. It's mostly down to the polariser for those wonderful skies. Light conditions were perfect for it. It's much harder on a grey day, though with the polariser I can get some funky effects on clouds.

Should be concentrating on the riders more than the scenery though and manage to catch people in the air :D. A little annoyed I didn't get a single photo of any of the northshore, and there was plenty of it! Or the downhill. Next time then.

Anyway, Sunday and/or Monday is good for me for SH / Leith / Whatever.

Interested in going back to Wales again. Have to try and get enough of a group to fill the cars. Did cost quite a bit in the end! If I get a bike rack I'll have more space in mine too.

Cwmcarn - How much of a downhill place is it, and is an XC bike really up for it?

Cwmcarn has a downhill track yes but it also has a nice xc loop with a superb descent at the end, it's an awesome place.

How about we meet at 9.00am on sunday here: The Pub
We could park further up here too if folk wanted save us the road climb, at this mini cross roads: nearer the trail

I think the pub works. We can even do a quick bash over to summer lightening if we want up Wolvern lane and then push up that bloody hill to the jumps.

Well if any of you are heading for rides over the w/end I'm free Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday at the moment. However Saturday looks a bit pants weather wise...

Might free free Friday afternoon, but traffic would be brutal it being a bank hoilday I may be too tried I wouldn't advise working a 15 hour day!

If parking near pub is busy keep driving past it and up the hill to that second link I posted, there's a layby that can fit a few cars in it, it has a white gate we ride past to get to our location.

metalmonkey we are all riding surrey hills on sunday so come join, location & directions are above :)
  • Dkenny - I'm around Monday if you're up for a ride then. Can't make sunday unfortunately as I'll be in Manchester :(

Lovely maps - but all I can see is trees. Can find the pub in Coldharbour, but what crossroads do you mean?

Hope to recover quick for Sunday rides after some crashes. Elbow-Knee's hurt , even pads didn't help that much ... but yea, Cwmcarn XC trail (Twrch) is really good in my opinion is more balanced than Whites lvl in Afan, there was maybe only 100yards of fireroad to climb on, otherwise it's all pretty technical up/down Singletrack head on. Those blackruns there are actually something, had to learn to get airbourne in no time. Enjoyed it all big time. Learned the harder way not to ride too close to rider in front, lol Plaisir felt so bad about it, he crashed just for me ... flew over the bars on some section, and lied down in the bushes like a lazy bxxx. God bless our stupidity. 2 crashes to me, 1 to Plaisir.
