The FOD event seems to have been cancelled now, Swinley as alternative been mentioned.
Would like to get to Surrey Hills. Maybe tomorrow.
I would've still up for FoD but was busy all day yesterday and couldn't contact people re: times etc. I kind of figured this morning, as a couple of the 'going' people on the Facebook group were posting about Swinley, it was off. Sorry DK if you were still up for it, communication breakdown, I would've still gone myself if I knew there were some people still interested. Anyway my plan now is to go to PORC. Don't know if any of you guys have been there but I'll report back later and let you know what it's like.0 -
Was half can't be bothered really and then got up too late. Would be good to go with a group of us, better if someone knows the place, and ideally in nice conditions.
PORC, mainly DH and a 4X it seems. Though moredirt says they're all XC friendly. Guess by that they mean anyone could do it. Interested but wondered if there was enough to justify the trip.0 -

I thought PORC was pretty good but took a little while to settle into it. There are no runs marked out so you chose your own line down the hill which is very weird but i met a couple of other guys who I joined and they showed me a couple of routes they take. They were seriously fast though and at first I couldn't keep up at all! They helped me loads and I ended up doing a massive (to me anyway) gap which I'd never have considered doing if they weren't there! Anyway I don't see at all where the supposed XC stuff is, as far as I could make out it was DH and DJ only. I prefer Aston over it but it's a fun alternative once in a while, lots of big gaps and drops.
I'm quite eager to get to Forest of Dean for a DH session soon, maybe a couple of weekend's time?0 -
I'm definitely due a FoD session.
Going round Tunnel Hill yesterday it was pretty good conditions as was Surrey Hills today until the rain kicked in. Thinking we should have done FoD anyway. Ah well.0 -
We just did a short run around the bottom bit of Swinley today, tracing the beginning of the bits we did on Friday. Good fun and left just as it started drizzling.I don't do smileys.

Just back from South Wales. Where it rained a LOT. Managed to do the Wall at Afan which was pretty fun, but got soaked out of doing anything else. Now free tomorrow/Sat/Sun and looking to ride, what's going on with you folks?0
-
Got a Cannock thing from FB going on Sat. Other than that Sunday see how I feel. Tomorrow, shock, working!0
-
Cannock eh. Well, if the weather holds up and we can be arsed doing a big drive again, I don't see why not. I'm a probable!0
-
Doubtful I'll make Cannock so up for something a bit more local over the weekend.I don't do smileys.

Late morning sounds good.
Edit: Looks like we're going for 12.0 -
Hi guys here's a Forest of Dean day I'm trying to get going over on Facebook. There's at least 4 people going so far and hopefully more will join. I've called it a DH day but there's no reason there can't be a bit of XC and DH or just XC for some and we meet up for lunch or whatever. The start/end of the runs are all by the cafe and shop so it won't be hard to find each other and hangout etc. All welcome...

Ps plenty of DH beginners going by the sounds of it including myself and also from what every says the FoD runs are a brilliant intro to DH as they start really easy and are fairly short.0 -
Hey guys, hope you don't mind two or three brave foreign beginners joining you for the ride.. I've already joined up on FB, hopefully will get my mates to do the same thing so we can communicate over there. Looking forward to that day!0

No problem at all, everyone's welcome
As you say it's probably best to keep communication to the FB page, easier that way.
Looking forward to it to, should be an awesome day.0 -

Really don't know what's going on with the weather and seems nor do the BBC or Met Office. Looks like Sunday is the better chance of a reasonable day though.
Want to service the big bike so might do that tomorrow. Sunday, don't mind.0 -
OK so at this point Swinley, Sunday, not too early. 11 is always good. (Or as it's also known, 10.30 DK time)I don't do smileys.
