Saturday - Leith @ the car park near High Ashes farm. 10.30ish

    RH5 6LS. http://streetmap.co.uk/idld.srf?x=51317 ... 43370&lm=0

Reminder - If you've got bikes on a roof rack, car park has a low barrier! There's a small parking area close by though.

Not sure if I will make it - been sick as a dog last two days. Either way I am sure some will. PLan is normally to meet up just by the gate that goes from the car park to the Go Ape area, at 11 tomorrow.

Ride is normally 2-3 hours, but thats dependent on what time everyone has.

    @Ben big girls blouse.
@tonionio as Ben said, just outside the main gate under the trees at the entrance to Go Ape. Ride until we've had enough and get tired, so for me about 10 minutes but I normally grumble along at the back after that. But no plan so if you need to leave or want to stay longer no problem. And the 2-3 hours includes plenty of rests etc.

I've PM'd you my phone number so you can give me a call if you can't find us. It will probably be very busy tomorrow, so lots of random people. I have a grey and white Kona, and a stomach.

    Somewhere.

Well, there's the usual suspects and/or can go somewhere further or different. I'd be up for an Afan or Cwmcarn trip this or another weekend soon (weekend of 9th may be Cannock).

BDJ has an Aston Hill session invite out for Monday 4th. If the chain guide is working fine I may be up for that.

Need to get that north Wales one on the cards again too.

Bearing in mind we'll be back to winter next week.

No Wales - car hasn't been sorted out yet so need to stay fairly local. Up for a SH and Swinley and maybe Aston on Monday. (Maybe)
Or anywhere else interesting and not too far.

No plans so will fit in as long as it's not one of their crack of dawn jobbies.

Peaslake on Sat is best avoided it seems...

"On Saturday, 2 June, Car Park 2, Walking Bottom, will be closed all day for the Peaslake Jubilee Street Party. It will be open as usual after the party..."

As I understand it the road from the shop to beyond the car park will also be closed.

heading to swinley tomorrow for the first time hopefully. Should get there for around 10:30 hopefully.

Any information for a first timer there? Wheres the best place to park etc?

Also, if anyone wants to show me around, that would be more than welcome.

Well Maj was saying Peaslake tomorrow, but I've pointed out the closures. Not heard back. Said he wants to do Swinley though. He was also saying Tunnel Hill Sunday 3pm, not sure who with or what sort of ride.

Can probably make it then. Meet at the gate next to Go Ape - just go to the main parking lot.
I'll send you a PM with my phone no. a bit later - doing this on phone and too hard to work out how.
@DK could be messy at Peaslake tomorrow. Also 3 on Sunday is a bit of a bizarre time?

Can do that then. Gives me a chance to give the chain guide a proving run to see how well it goes on pedally stuff before I chuck it down big things.

Update - Got reply from Maj, should be coming too (+ others)

Not really, avoids the busiest time, and its light till 9 or so now easily, so it makes sense to me. Gives lots of bacon eating time too.

  • Due to the rain forecasted for Sunday, Aston might not be the best idea for Monday so Tom and I are thinking about a Forest of Dean trip for DH fun. The push up is supposed to be really easy so no need for uplifts and there's loads of XC stuff too if people who don't want to ride DH also want to come. Just putting out the feelers to see what you lot think, otherwise I'll probably go to Swinley and ride the Clubhouse/Tim's Drop area on Monday.

Event for FOD on FB - https://www.facebook.com/events/419302361433421/

Good one round Swinley today. Nice and dry, dusty now, trails running good. Fast-ish ride in the end (for us :D). Bit of everything and thanks to MTBB guys a nice route round the Crowthorne side round corkscrew way which I know bits of but never have a good way of linking it up. Just got to try and remember it now. Apparently a Gorrick route or some of it is.

Went over to Swinley today, despite the rain - was the only day of the weekend available...

Tried to follow DKs track off Strava on the Garmin with some success - was my first time doing the corkscrew - loved that bit so much I had to do it three times! By the third go I was getting better, building up a rhythm and really enjoying it. Seagull was flowing nicely and stickler just keeps getting better. Ground was muddy and damp on the surface from last nights rain but firm underneath where it has been dry for a while, so not too boggy.

By the time I got to jump gulley on DKs track though, the rain had been falling hard for a while and I was getting soaked and there was lots of standing water everywhere, so I turned back - bit of the whole nine yards back to base and a hot cup of tea.

Wish I could have joined the group yesterday but was busy running Dad's taxi service and having our street party tomorrow, so had to grab what I could.

Was really quiet which had some advantages though it meant not too much dodging people coming the other way.

Still hoping to meet up with you guys soon. Have just signed up to the Evans Rideit in Dorking too.

The FOD event seems to have been cancelled now, Swinley as alternative been mentioned.

Would like to get to Surrey Hills. Maybe tomorrow.
