by the way question to the pros, regarding gearing. I run a 36t ring upfront and an 11-34 9spd at the back. for the mega there will be a few steep climbs, I was wandering if it is possible to swap th last one or two rings on the derailler for a 36 ot 38 if that exists??

otherwise i have to fit a small ringshiter and derailler for a double ring set up but have to buy cable an new chain device or 2 rings... not reall keen on this option.

I dont hink a 10sp cassette would change much.

    You can get a 11-36t cassette http://www.cyclesportsuk.co.uk/product_ ... ts_id=8725

You can't use a 10spd cassette casue they have narrower spacing so it won't index.

Let me know if you get rid of the cassette. Could be good as a spare

The answer is not coz last 6 sprocksets on cassette are riveted to alloy spider, you can buy 12-36t 9spd cassette but I dont think it will help you much on climbs. Very good and cheap chain tensioner for double http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17282 plus gear cable will sort the problem for 30quids. Thats cheaper than buying new cassette, sprocksets, etc.

I've got a stinger here (unfitted) I need to get put on. There's a deore 11-36 (or maybe 12-36) but it's apparently a bit heavy

I put a 36 on the back. Don't notice any difference in terms of weight, but do notice it uphill. Like an extra ratio before i need granny ring, and extra low in granny ring.

All be quite, - Supra, if it's that steep, get out of bike and push or get as fit as racing snakes. End of conversation!

Another spin around Swinley this morning, this time thel33ter managed to escape for a while with his Speedily Singular Thingy.
Looks like the new Stickler bit has been discovered. Rode it three times today, twice had families with little kids riding it the wrong way and playing in the berms/holes. Still I guess it's a free country.
    Love the dry and dust.
And to round things off, had a late lunch - whole packet of bacon and waffles with syrup.
    Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Had my first solo ride of Swinley for over 10 years Saturday earlly afternoon.
Has changed quite a bit in that time but everythings much were i remember it just thrice as popular...

Found the and rode Babymaker, Labrinth, Deerstalker Left Left etc chatted with a few friendly pro looking folk with full sussers around the Gully Jumps, they made it look easy, tried it and bailed spectacularly mid-air on the table top followed by almost getting run over.
Tried to find Stickler and the New England Switchbacks, failed so i ran Sundays race course the that was being set up instead.

Still buzzing, cant wait for next Saturday so i can bust more bike bits and injur myself further.

May have seen you, I saw a tall guy crash off the side of the table top in the gully today.

I'm around Swinley quite often if you want a guide to the other bits.

No. Green Caldera hardtail, mostly standard with massive red Hope discs, usually wear the same distinctive black T with white Skulls all over the chest as its comfy. At 32 i should really grow up.

There were some fires smouldering - down near the bombholes. We went to have a look, but wasn't very exciting.

    How are you all ??

Apart from some of you trying to destroy DK ( hope your feeling better and so sorry to hear about your accident) where have you all been riding ?

I am out and about over peaslake way on sunday morning ( probably ) with my cousin who has just got into riding the SH, will probably just show him around pitch as he saw some of holmbury last week. Should be about 9 ish in the main carpark if you fancy joining , really no idea of pace etc so probably a fairly sedate one.

Also for the more extreme of you guys I was thinking of doing a tour round some of the jump areas I know in the surrey hills if you fancy ( popstar, supra etc) give me a shout if you fancy, there are a few new trails and lines that i recon you would like.

@Rich - I'd be up for the Sunday pootle and the extreme bits in a few weeks.

@ThePriory - I'm either on the Enduro in my sig but with Magura forks, or my Speedily Singular Thingy, just look for the red and silver blur

Must be quite serious at Swinley. The road past the Lookout/Coral Reef was closed when I drove past.

@Richard Guess that means me as I have the car keys. Bloody early though. By main carpark do you mean Walking Bottom?

We'll manage. I'm in Bracknell now so it's quite a drive. Sedate sounds ok but I'll believe it when I see it.

Trust me :D:D normal rules as fast as the slowest.
Also i have no idea what my cousin or his mates are like , think they are probably fit but they have only just started on the technical stuff so maybe slow. I also do not want to hurt anyone so will be aiming for single track , instead of the more knarly stuff.

probably bit of pitch and a bit of holmbury and mostly the " classics"

Popstar after recent crashes is injured. My ribs, hips, legs and arms hurt so much that I am struggling to walk. Had my first ever -Gravel Rush- in Cwmcarn on DH trail, so scratched up proper. God bless those who invented pads. Think it will take some time to recover.

Off to CYB this weekend, shame won't be taking bike due to those reasons.

Richard - Definitely up for seeing the new stuff, this weekend depends on whether I have the time for Aston or not.

I'll be out on sunday but it depends on weather as to where I go, be tempted to hit Aston if it's dry as it is 30 miles closer to where I live. If it's not very dry i'll make sure to get to walking bottom for 9 though.

I'll happily come see more extreme stuff also in future weeks

I'd happily come join but 9am is for the birds. Willy Bottom is a long way from me and i'll probably be hung over and i'm sure you don't want the single tracks extra lumpy.

Would love to come join another time if its open invites and put some faces to names...

I find by 9am the birds have already been and demolished an entire bird feeder in my garden.
